Cover Up Skin Problems With Ease
There are many acne treatment coverup products on the market that are flesh-tinted, for example concealer (or coverup), foundation and face powder which comes in two forms, loose or pressed.
Powder is particularly useful for absorbing excessive oil build up throughout the daytime.
When shopping for cosmetics for your acne prone skin make sure to look for ones that are toted as being oil-free or water-based and also non-comedogenic (which means it won't clog pores).
If you choose products that do not contain any of these terms on their labels then you are only asking for trouble.
Liquimat Acne Treatment and Cover-Up lotion in light is two in one.
It is all of the necessary things- non-comedogenic, oil-free, water-based and contains four percent of the ingredient sulfur, which attacks the oil and bacteria that causes acne.
It helps dry the skin and allows for the gentle peeling of the top layer of skin.
After that it works to cover up the acne you have.
Some people who use this product find that it dries almost too quickly.
For that reason it is recommended that patients apply the product only once a day and then increase it to two to three times a day if they feel it is required.
Dermasoft sells an excellent product for acne treatment coverup called Heal & Conceal.
This drying lotion contains natural anti-oxidants and Tea Tree Oil. Tea Tree Oil is a proven way to loosen dirt from pores, rid the face of blackheads and works as an anti-inflammatory agent.
It destroys bacteria and does away with excessive oil.
Not to mention the fact that this acne treatment coverup has a very natural/pleasant herbal scent.

How Depression Effects Learning Disabilities
Depression and learning disabilities are frequently misunderstood. Learning disabilities and depression are common mental illnesses that affect millions everyday.
Studies has shown that children suffering with learning disabilities have complexity learning to speak fluently, take care of their health and bodies, and often suffer with the inability to cope with stress and the common pressures of everyday living.
A lot of the patients that suffer depression and learning disabilities are claimed to be borderline retards. Depression is related to emotional scaring, childhood traumas, chemical imbalances, insufficient nutrition?s, and other factors, so therefore it makes sense that it is believed a form of retard ness.
Learning disabilities are often stemmed from lack of education, positive influences, and miscommunications. Often people that suffer from depression and learning disabilities are overwhelmed, and this too creates a problem for the patients.
If you notice anyone around you that is suffering from symptoms of depression and learning disabilities, such as lack of enthusiasms while playing, unhappiness, feelings of despair, suicidal tendencies, and negative thinking then you should immediately contact a professional to avoid risks.
Depression is serious mental health disorder and it should not be taken lightly. Often people that suffer depression or learning disabilities use alcohol and/or drugs as a source for relief. This only creates a bigger problem, and help is needed immediately.
Depression also causes fatigue, lack of interest, and behaviors that could lead to criminal prosecution. Many people that suffer depression are affected by common problems, such as debts, deaths in the family, and so on. They often have the inability to cope with stressors, and often need support as a result.
Doctors often treat such patients with medications, including Prozac, however, recent studies has proven that the many medications used for treating depression and lea! rning ab ilities have side affects that complicate the diagnose.
It is recently been discovered that depression may be linked to propensity for perception after the fact, for immersion in the mind?s eye, a normal accompanying friend to the restraint, if not antisocial, depressive irritation. I beg to differ with this philosophy, since most encounters I?ve come across with patients that suffer depression and learning abilities, they often strive for attention.
This is a complete contradiction of antisocial, since antisocial is a diagnosis where the patient refuses to associate in society. Commonly depressive maniacs, or handicaps that include depression and learning abilities they often strive to find the answers to their suffering, yet neglect to see the answers when it is in front of them.
The mind is a tricky thing, and when someone tells someone that his or her emotions are not real, it is only denying the true problem. It is important to recognize the problem, without promoting a label on the patient.
Regardless of the many philosophies available to us, one being that when a person is labeled they are often sees as a label by counselors, and other individuals. The key to eliminating any problem is learning to accept your disability. Once you accept and recognize the problem, in my experience it has proven successful in treating the diagnosis.
The problem then is not necessarily on the diagnose itself, rather it is on the many professionals, patients, and others that refuse to accept that the problem exists. Instead of examining the mind, it is also important to examine the diagnosis closely and pay thorough attention to the symptoms.
Once you start dealing with each individual symptom separately, you can then work through the other problems gradually. The problem many times is professionals want to turn to medication verses treating the patients with effective therapy.
Let?s look at a medicine that is given to patients with schizophrenia, antipsychotic, and other rela! ted diag nosis. Ziprasidone (ZIH praise ih dohn) for example, has possible risks including Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome, affect on glucose or sugar level, affects blood pressure levels, and promotes involuntary movement disorder.
Now anyone that knows depression and learning disabilities should be wise to avoid risking or promoting such complications. The listed risks are often direct links to the central nervous system, and most people with depression and learning disabilities need to avoid any areas, including medicines that affect the nervous system.

I Hate Needles! Acutouch Is The Solution
Afraid of needles? Never mind. Acutouch therapy allows you to enjoy the thrills of acupuncture without the discomfort of being pricked. Based on the principle of applying pressure to key acupuncture points, Acutouch therapy is similar to acupuncture minus the needles. This non-invasive therapy is a revolutionary approach and when used in conjunction with other therapies, has shown remarkable results.
Acu-therapy focuses on balancing the body?s energy by gently tapping the finger tips upon key locations in the body. The underlying philosophy of all holistic healing procedures is that there is a natural life force that flows through all the organs in the body. When the flow of this force is thwarted or blocked, an external symptom appears. A disease is then diagnosed. When this flow is restored, the disease gets healed.
Acutouch originated from the ancient healing techniques practiced in East India, Japan, Tibet and of course China and is deeply influenced by the principles of Buddhism. It is believed that every cell in your body is TOTALLY aware of how you think and feel. This bio-energy or life force penetrates deep into every organ and on the skin it flows through the capillary network. Acutouch seeks to restore the flow of this life force by removing any blockage. This is done by working on the pressure points in the capillary network.
As with any holistic healing procedure, Acutouch also incites the body to heal itself and tries to garner the natural energy of the body to promote health. Acutouch uses the power of the fingertips to stimulate the flow of life force through the energy channels in the body. The practitioner has a high quantum of energy within him. By touching the patient, the practitioner passes on his own energy to the patient. Healing takes place in this way.
Luckily for patients, Acutouch is very successful in treating pain. Acutouch can be used in conjunction with Acupuncture and anesthesia to reduce acute post-surgical pain. Moreover, Acutouch is used to t! reat a w ide number of conditions, like:
- Sinusitis
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Nausea
- Lower Back Pain
- Osteo-artritis
- Migraine
- Asthma
- Strokes
Acutouch therapy is not a quick fix therapy. Depending on the nature and severity of the disease, the time taken for healing varies. As with any kind of holistic healing, whether it is Ayurveda, Allopathy, Naturopathy or Homeopathy, it is important to realize that healing is done by NATURE and not by the physician. Acutouch empowers home users to take charge of their own healing process. Since it is completely natural, it is free of any side effects and is one hundred percent safe, though the user may suffer some initial discomfort at the start of the therapy. This is just a ?healing crisis? where sometime things have to get worse before they can get better.
Acutouch and acupuncture are almost similar except for the technique. Since Acutouch is non-invasive, the patient?s acceptance of this therapy is better. The results are the same and sometimes even better than traditional acupuncture. This is a highly recommended mode of treatment for children as well as adults. Patients must remember to maintain the treatment to ensure total and complete recovery.
Acutouch works on all kinds of ailments, especially those that result from the normal and natural wear and tear of your body system. Some ?dis-eases? may need more time, while others get treated quicker. But a fix is always there.

Top 4 Sunless Tanning Methods
Tanning products, both sunless and sun, go to work on the epidermis, or the outside layer of your skin, and not the dermis or inner layer. However, the layer of epidermis that is affected by sunless versus the layer affected by sun tanning products differs. Sun tanning lotions, sprays, gels and other assorted items, go to work on the stratum basale or deepest layer. And sunless tanning items go to work on the stratum corneum or outermost layer.
Method 1 - Sunless Bronzers
Some sunless tanning products come in the form of moisturizers (as lotions and cr?mes) and powders and are referred to as bronzers. Basically you simply apply these to your skin as you would make up products for a temporary tan appearance, similar to the effects of applied makeup leaving a tint.
Then you just wash the bronzers off with soap and water; the tan is removed with washing. Caution is needed so that the products do not stain clothing or other fabric. And care needs to be taken so that the applications do not streak or run when wet, similar to the results of mascara running. And finally, make sure that if you wear these products outdoors, they contain sunscreen in the ingredients; otherwise wear protective clothing, eyewear, etc.
Method 2 - Sunless Tanning Booths
Sunless tanning booths are becoming more popular. With an air compressor and an airbrush delivery system in one of these booths, skin receives a tan. What happens is that pistons in the compressor quickly press or force air out via a nozzle in an airbrush or spray head. This air mixes with a tanning solution containing DHA that's inside compartments within the airbrush, and sprays this in a fine mist over the outer skin layer.
Some tanning booths have up to 36 of these airbrushes connected to the compressor and they are all either in fixed positions or moving. Thus tanning clients then either move under fixed sprayers so that skin is covered all over. Or else the tanner parts move to spray the differen! t body parts (these types pose more mechanical maintenance issues though.)
Method 3 - Tanning Accelerators
For a speedier tan, you might elect to try a tanning accelerator. Generally sold as lotions or pills, these products list an amino acid called tyrosine in with the ingredients. This amino acid is reported (but not proven) by some users to increase the production of melanin, speeding up the tanning process. Again, these are not FDA-approved solutions or drugs.
Method 4 - Tanning Lamps
Tanning lamps, unfortunately, can have the same bad effects on the body as direct sunlight. The equipment emits UV rays that are just as damaging as the sun's. Some measures to take towards safety when using this type of equipment are closely monitor sessions, keeping to the minimum number and timed lengths that are recommended, don't book sessions closer than every-other day, ALWAYS wear recommended safety eyewear, follow safety and other directions that come with the equipment or are (or should be) posted near it, and do place some sort of protection like a thin piece of acrylic between your body and tanning lamps. (Check for this possibility with booths, too, by asking the host or reading the equipment's instruction booklet).
In conclusion, when looking for a tanning solution, check out the variety of products available. Sunless-tanning products offer safer tanning and many choices of forms and formulas for everyone across the board from young to old. And sunscreen products are definitely needed outdoors and also come in a variety of choices for everyone.
So be prepared. Be safe. And have fun in the sun!

Combating Hypothyroidism Naturally
The condition known as hypothyroidism is when the thyroid gland does not function properly. This results in the body having reduced levels of thyroid hormone in it. Dry skin, hair loss, hoarseness, excessive menstruation, fatigue, lethargy, depression, intolerance to cold, constipation and weight gain are all symptoms of hypothyroidism.
There are different causes of hypothyroidism, cretinism is a type of hypothyroidism that develops at birth and results in stunted growth and mental development. A common cause of hypothyroidism is Hashimoto?s thyroiditis which is an autoimmune disease of the thyroid gland. Damage done during radiation treatment or surgery to the thyroid gland to treat hyperthyroidism (an over active thyroid gland) is another common cause of hypothyroidism. Also some drugs, such as phenylbutazone and lithium, sometimes also cause hypothyroidism. Some people with an enlargement of the thyroid gland which is known as goitre have hypothyroidism. This is cause by an iodine deficiency which could be the result of eating too many foods that contain goitrogens such as rapeseed, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, and cauliflower or by another disorder that effects the thyroid hormone production. A condition known as secondary hypothyroidism is cause by the hypothalamus or pituitary gland not stimulating the thyroid gland properly. Severe hypothyroidism is called myxedema.
Extreme iodine deficiency is another possible cause of hypothyroidism but this is rare.
Medical treatment of hypothyroidism consists of prescribing synthetic thyroid or desiccated thyroid hormone. Naturopathic practitioners like to use desiccated natural thyroid complete with all thyroid hormones. Thyroid hormone replacement is necessary in most cases of hypothyroidism.
Changing the diet will help with hypothyroidism. Eating goitrogenic foods such as rapeseed, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, maize, lima beans, soya and pearl millet should be limited. These foods conta! in natur al goitrogens, which are chemicals that cause the enlargement of the thyroid gland by interfering with thyroid hormone synthesis. Cooking is known to make the goitrogens elements less effective but it would be wise not eat these foods raw. Foods that contain iodine such as kelp, beetroot, radish, parsley, potatoes, fish, oatmeal and bananas should be kept in the diet. In the treatment of underactive thyroid, fats, sugars, sodium chloride, red meat and egg intake should also be restricted.
The relationship between iodine and thyroid is complex, iodine is needed by the body to form thyroid hormone, and goitre and hypothyroidism can occur through iodine deficiency. Extreme and prolonged iodine deficiency can lead to serious types of hypothyroidism, such as cretinism or myxedema. On the other hand, consumption of excessive iodine intake can result in either hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism. The amount of 150 mg that is usually in multi-mineral supplements should be enough to stop iodine deficiency but not enough to do harm.
The amino acid tyrosine is an essential part of the thyroid hormones and neurotransmitters; this has been found to be deficient in people with hypothyroidism. Practitioners often recommended a low dose of thyroxine such as 1000mg to correct hypothyroidism. People with depression also have low levels of tyrosine, this is why it has be linked to hypothyroidism.
Vitamin A, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and vitamin E are needed for the synthesis of thyroxine. The B vitamins and copper are vital co-factors for tyrosine metabolism. Copper, iron, selenium and zinc are essential in the production of T3 from T4.
Some herbs can help combat hypothyroidism, nettle will balance the thyroid with both under and over activity. Bladderwrack (Fucus vesiculosus) is a type of brown seaweed that contains iodine. Hypothyroidism due to small intake of iodine may possibly improve with bladderwrack supplementation; also kelp has been linked to helping with hypothyroidism.! Some pe ople with hypothyroidism have seen improvements by taking Chinese herbs.
Another aspect to look at is chemical sensitivities. Research has shown an association between hypothyroidism and multiple chemical sensitivities. It was found that people with exposure to toxic heavy metals, polybrominated biphenyls and cardon disulfides through their occupations suffered from depression, fatigue, poor memory and constipation which are all symptoms of hypothyroidism.
Another important factor in the treatment of hypothyroidism is exercise. Exercise increases tissue sensitivity to the thyroid hormone and stimulates thyroid gland secretion. This is especially true in people who are dieting; this is because when dieting the metabolic rate decreases but exercise prevents this decline. An exercise regime of between 15-20 minutes per day will be beneficial with hypothyroidism. This exercise needs to be strenuous enough to raise the heartbeat, an exercise such as walking, swimming, running and cycling.
In conclusion, to combat hypothyroidism, it is best not to consume foods high in goitrogens especially raw but to increase foods high in iodine in the diet, to exercise daily for 20 minutes, to supplement the diet with multiminerals and multivitamins, B complex, vitamin C, manganese, tyrosine, kelp and iodine and to check whether sensitivity to chemicals are causing hypothyroidism. Some Chinese herbs may also help.
The following supplements may help if you are suffering from Hypothyroidism.
B vitamins complex
Manganese
Multivitamin and multiminerals
Vitamin C
Tyrosine
Kelp
Iodine

Are You Looking For a New or Updated Hair Style?
There are 3 factors that you should consider before changing your hair style. First you should look at your face shape and body structure. A short woman may not look all that great with very long hair and a tall woman may not look good with a very short hair style.
You can determine your face shape by pulling all of your hair back into a ponytail, away from your face. Take a piece of chalk, or something that is washable, and trace the outline of your face using a mirror. Stand back and look at the shape that you drew. Your face shape could be a combination of the basic face shape, or it is exactly like one of the basic face shapes.
Some of the basic face shapes include:
Square Face Shape: Layered bobs, wisps around the face, and long layers are generally recommended for this face shape. Avoid very short or cropped hair or slicked-back styles.
Round Face Shape: Usually a layered cut and/or feathered cut will accentuate your facial features. Avoid any width in the hair at the sides of your face as this will make your face seem rounder.
Oval Face Shape: The envy of us all--this shape can wear almost any type of hair. Layered, curly, short, long....anything.
Long Face Shape: Any hair cut that is below the chin is best for this face shape. Long Face Shapes should avoid short hair.
Heart Face Shape: Another envy of us all--this shape falls into the same category as the oval face where virtually any shape will look good.
The second factor that has a great effect on your hair style is your current lifestyle. How much time do you devote every day to styling your hair, washing your hair, etc. This can be very important when selecting a new hair style. If you select a high maintenance hair style and don't spend the time required to keep it looking good, you may not be very happy with the results.
The third factor for your hair style is color. Sometimes just a simple change of color or addition of highlights and lowlights can spruce up your st! yle with out having to do anything drastic. Color can do different things to your look. For example, adding a lighter or warmer color in the bang or crown area will lengthen your face. Whereas adding a darker or cooler color on the sides can decrease the width of the face.
Adding a lighter color to the sides will widen the face. Color can be used to create texture and accents to a hair style. Consult with your stylist for the best color combinations to use for your hair.
In short, if you are looking for a new or updated hair style, there are many different options available for you. You don't need to do anything drastic to look different. Visit the Hair Styles Galleries at Hair Resources and find a new hair style that you like. All galleries have free access---so you don't have to spend a ton of money looking for your style. When Your Gum Aches
PERIODONTAL INFECTION.
Periodontal (gum) diseases, including gingivitis and periodontitis, are serious infections that, left untreated, can lead to tooth loss. Periodontal disease is a chronic bacterial infection that affects the gums and bone supporting the teeth.
Gum disease could give you one of the most excruciating pains you ever experienced in life. However, you can easily avoid it or get it cured (if you already have it) by carefully reading and adhering to the simple tips highlighted below.
Periodontal disease can affect one tooth or many teeth. It begins when the bacteria in plaque (the sticky, colorless film that constantly forms on your teeth) causes the gums to become inflamed.
FORMS
Gingivitis
This is the mildest form of periodontal disease. It causes the gums to become red, swollen, and bleed easily. There is usually little or no ache at this stage. Gingivitis is reversible with professional treatment and good at home oral care.
Aggressive Periodontitis.
A form of periodontitis that occurs in patients who are otherwise clinically healthy. Common features include rapid attachment loss and bone destruction and familial aggregation.
Chronic Periodontitis
A form of periodontal disease resulting in swelling within the supporting tissues of the teeth, progressive attachment and bone loss and is associated with pocket formation and/or recession of the gingiva. It is recognized as the most frequently occurring form of periodontitis. It is rampant in adults, but can occur at any age. Progression of attachment loss usually occurs slowly, but periods of rapid progression can occur.
CAUSES:
SMOKING:
Apart from other diseases to which tobacco users are exposed, they are susceptible to chronic and perpetual periodontal infections. In fact, recent studies have shown that tobacco use may be one of the most significant risk factors in the development and progression of periodontal disease.
Genetics
According to a press relea! se, pare nts may pass periodontal infections to their offspring. ?Periodontal (gum) disease may be passed from parents to children and between couples. Researchers discovered bacteria that cause periodontal disease pass though saliva. This means that the common contact of saliva in families puts children and couples at risk for contracting the periodontal disease of another family member.
Pregnancy and Puberty
As a woman, at puberty or menopause, and times when you have special health needs, such as menstruation or pregnancy, your body experiences hormonal changes. These changes can affect many of the tissues in your body, including your gums. Your gums can become sensitive, and at times react strongly to the hormonal fluctuations. This may make you more susceptible to gum disease. Additionally, recent studies suggest that pregnant women with gum disease are seven times more likely to deliver premature, low birth weight babies
Stress
It is pertinent to point out here that (since you may not know this) that stress also is a risk factor for periodontal disease. Research demonstrates that stress can make it more difficult for the body to fight off infection, including periodontal diseases.
TREAMENT OF PERIODONTAL DISEASE
The goal of periodontal treatment is to control any infection that exists and to stop development and spread of the disease. Treatment options involve home care that includes healthy eating and proper brushing and flossing. Non-surgical therapy that controls the growth of harmful bacteria and, in more advanced cases of disease, surgery to restore supportive tissues may be adequate.
Antibiotic treatments can be used either in combination with surgery and other therapies, or alone, to reduce or temporarily eliminate the bacteria associated with periodontal disease.
However, doctors, dentists and public health officials are becoming more concerned that overuse of these antibiotics can increase the risk of bacterial resistance to these drugs. When germs become! resista nt to antibiotics, the drugs lose the ability to fight infection.
If you're diagnosed with periodontal disease, your periodontist may recommend periodontal surgery. Periodontal surgery is necessary when your periodontist determines that the tissue around your teeth is unhealthy and cannot be repaired with non-surgical treatment. Following are the four types of surgical treatments most commonly prescribed:
?Pocket Reduction Procedures
?Regenerative Procedures
?Crown Lengthening
?Soft Tissue Grafts
If you've already lost a tooth to periodontal disease, you may be interested in dental implants ? the permanent tooth replacement option.
WARNING SIGNALS

Do you smoke and wish you could smoke less? You know that if you smoke too much that it shortens your life expectancy by quite a bit and the costs are also eating you up too. 11 Tips For Traveling With ME/CFS or FM
Traveling long distances with ME/CFS or FM - most of us avoid it at all costs! It's just too much for our bodies to handle!
I had the very same opinion because I was (and still am) largely housebound due to Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome (also known as ME/CFS). But as a result, I had forfeited seeing my beloved family (who live abroad) for four long years. So recently, I decided to 'bite the bullet' and go. Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome or not.
I had a lovely time there, but the voyage there and back raised quite a few issues for me as a sufferer of Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome.
When it comes to ME/CFS no one sufferer has the same experience as the next. For a start, you may suffer from this condition less or more severely than I do. You probably also experience a different mix of symptoms. But there are a few things you can bear in mind if you do plan on making a long trip:
1) Rest adequately beforehand.
This might mean not exerting yourself mentally or physically for a number of days or even weeks beforehand - easier said than done, I know. But bear in mind that resting is a BIG priority PRE-trip.
2) Plan your trip.
Leave LOTS of time in-between train, bus or plane times so that you don't have to rush. **Over-estimate** the amount of time it will take you. That way, if you get there early you can just sit and rest instead of rushing and stressing, which will only make you feel more weak and ill.
3) Get help.
If you're making a long trip then it's advisable that you ask someone (like a relative or friend) to accompany you there and back. Ideally this would be someone who understands your condition and how it affects you. If you have trouble walking (or if this wears you out too much usually) then consider asking someone from the train or plane company to meet you with a wheelchair. Most large commercial companies seem to offer this service, but you usually have to tell them in advance. You might also consider using a walking stick. Anything to help you ! get ther e in one piece, right?
4) Don't rush.
Pack slowly. Don't leave it until the last minute! I had an open suitcase in my bedroom in which I put things as I thought of them. I also made a check list for the morning of the trip, so that I didn't forget the things that I needed to pack after using them that morning (like toothbrush, toothpaste, tablets etc).
5) Pack light!
If you're going on a short trip, then maybe you can get away with not packing any luggage at all?
----- SIDE NOTE ----- If you're traveling to a different time zone, consider taking some ear plugs and a light-blocking sleep mask with you, just in case you need to sleep during the day. ----- SIDE NOTE -----
6) Don't forget to pack your medicines, vitamins, and supplements!
Don't make the mistake of not packing enough. Count out how many tablets you'll need just to make sure.
7) Warn the people you're going to be staying with about your needs.
This may be your family, friends or the hotel manager. Let them know about your sleeping habits and your dietary needs. Is there anything you *can't* eat or drink? Caffeine or dairy, for example? Should they get some special food or drink in like say, soya milk?
8) Bring a book on ME/CFS with you just in case the people you stay with are interested in your condition.
If you have ME/CFS then I really recommend Lynn Michell's book 'Shattered', because it really explains what it's like to live with the condition. AND it packs a punch - just in case you face any skepticism while you're there! No need to start explaining yourself - just hand them the book. ;)
---------- SIDE NOTE ----------
To read a complete review about Lynn Michell's book, visit:
http://www.sleepydust.net/CHRONIC-FATIGUE-SYNDROME-AND-TREATMENT-book-LM-shattered.html
---------- SIDE NOTE ----------
9) Sensory overload.
When you suffer from ME/CFS, visual and aural stimuli can be too overwhelming for your brain to process adequately. This i! s especi ally true when you're traveling...
... the noise of the train, bus or plane, the chatting people, the fast moving countryside outside, the throng of other travelers...
All of this can play havoc with your brain and can end up making you feel even *more* exhausted, and your brain even *more* foggy!
There's not much you can do about this. But say you're on a train for example - if the fast moving countryside is making you feel dizzy, then try to avoid looking out the window. Close your eyes if you have to, or wear a sleep mask. If you find that you're getting dizzy and tired when you're in a busy corridor full of commuters in the subway for example, stop and face the wall for a few seconds to regroup and regain your clarity and balance.
10) Wear some magnetic insoles.
I had made it a point to see my Nutritionist/ Kinesiologist before I left for my trip abroad. She tested me with all the supplements I took daily, and found that the 'Pure Synergy' superfood powder really raised my vital force (see point 11 below).
But perhaps even more astounding was the magnetic insoles she gave me - they raised my vital force so much that at first, it literally felt like I was standing on a power pod! I could even feel a subtle tingling sensation in my legs!
I wore my magnetic insoles on the trip and I have to say that I *did* feel more energized! It's a very subtle feeling and after an hour or so of using them the tingling went away. You may or may not have the same sensations when you first try them - depending on how severe your ME/CFS is and how susceptible you are to external forces. But they're well worth a try. I now make it a point to wear my magnetic insoles whenever I have to venture outside and now that I know how much they help me, I most certainly wouldn't be without them.

11) Perhaps most importantly, pack some nourishing food and supplements specifically for your voyage.
It's important to eat small amounts regularly especially when you travel. It's not a good idea to eat sugary foods or anything containing caffeine (including coffee, tea, sweets or chocolate) because although that may pep you up for the first few minutes, they are likely to make you feel a lot worse in the long term.
I took a few of Dr Gillian McKeith's 'Living Food Energy Bars' with me - I always keep a spare one in my handbag for emergencies anyway. Nuts are also a great idea when you're traveling (if you're not allergic to them that is).
I also took some of that amazing 'Pure Synergy' superfood powder, and mixed it in with some cooled herbal tea in a small bottle. No sugar. No caffeine.
It was my energy pep-up drink - and I swigged it all the way back on my voyage. It did the trick.

10 Steps You Can Take To Slow Down Aging
Aging is a complex process that involves many areas of your body. It's unlikely that any one product or pill could cure all of the ailments of aging. However, there are things you can do that not only will help you age more slowly but will improve your quality of life. Your best bet for a long and healthy life is to:
1. Eat a varied and healthy diet. Include plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grain foods. Fiber, calcium, iron, magnesium, and vitamins all play a part in keeping your body functioning at its best. Drink lots of fluids to maintain healthy skin and flush out waste. Eating right will help you maintain a healthy weight.
2. Exercise every day. Exercise improves appetite, makes healthy bones, gives you a better emotional outlook and improves digestion and circulation. Exercise makes you stronger and helps you lose weight.
3. Seeking prompt medical care when you're ill or injured. Listen to your body and take care of any little problems before they become big problems. Get screened for diseases such as cancer and heart disease.
4. Use sunscreen to prevent sunburn. Professionals agree that one of the most significant factors contributing to aging is chronic inflammation of the skin.
5. Quit smoking and avoid secondhand smoke. Smoking has very damaging effects and dramatically increases your risk of getting cancer and heart disease.
6. Manage stress. Stress is a part of everyday life. Develop ways to help you cope and adjust to situations in your life that may cause you stress. The situation isn?t the problem?its how you react to it.
7. Look for ways to improve overall well-being and enthusiasm for life. Be curios and creative which will encourage you to learn new things. You can also use humor and laughter to help you age well and live long.
8. Keep strong relationships. Maintaining close ties to your family and friends are crucial to healthy aging.
9. Don?t let fears and worries dominate your life. A worried mind is not at peace and robs! you of zest and energy which you need to maintain youthfulness.
10. Keep cells youthful with antioxidants. Antioxidants are found in a full-range of fruits and vegetables, as well as in some meat, like fish. Although, our bodies produce its own antioxidants, the level of product declines over time because of environmental factors and through the aging process. You can also take anti oxidant supplements or even anti oxidant teas.
Do all you can to be healthy and in doing so you will age slower. If you have any questions about products that claim to slow or reverse aging ask your doctor. He or she can help you sort through the information and get the facts.

Some herbal products help with mild conditions such as color patches, wrinkled skin, dull skin, and acne. These herbal products have their origin in flower and plant extracts.
For those who would prefer to make their own herbal concoctions at home, a wide variety of recipes are available on the Internet and in book stores. Lowering Cholesterol Naturally
While there's plenty of medical advice that indicates the statin family of drugs are highly effective in lowering your levels of cholesterol, there are many people who are seeking alternative non-medical solutions to lowering high cholesterol. These people include the not-so-old who wish to make lifestyle changes now rather than face 30 or more years on medications. Why take the chance of suffering unacceptable side-effects from statin medications, such as erectile dysfunction in males and abdominal pain and muscle soreness in both sexes? Also, the long-term use of these drugs could lead to as yet unknown problems. So, eat a healthy diet low in saturated fats and combine this with the following natural health tips.
Natural Health Tip No 1: Regular Exercise. Start a program of regular exercise that will lead to achieving a healthy body weight. This means exercising three or four times a week to a level where your heart rate is raised to an acceptable rate for your age. Walking, swimming and cycling are all good activities that don't place unnecessary strain on your body. Be sure to warm up with at least five minutes of muscle-stretching exercises beforehand. Raised oxygen levels also help your body organs maintain their vitality and firms and tones your muscles.
Natural Health Tip No 2: Plan Your Menus. Think about the healthy foods you like and plan your meals a week in advance to coincide with food shopping day. This saves you having to make compromises to your diet that involve the wrong foods. It also means you'll have plenty of low fat products on hand that may be hard to find at the corner store.
Natural Health Tip No 3: Smart Cooking Techniques. Avoid bad cooking techniques such as deep-frying and try to prepare your foods by simmering, dry baking, steaming or using Asian stir-fry techniques. Even microwaving can allow foods to cook in their natural juices and retain their nutrients. And be sure to eat lots of raw foods, especially fruit and vegetables.
Natural Health Tip! No 4: T ake Your Supplements. Supplements such as Omega-3, inositol hexaniacinate, pantethine, and guggulipid can be effective in lowering cholesterol. Supplements for lowering cholesterol should be used as a part of an overall plan that includes diet and lifestyle changes.
Natural Health Tip No 5: Clean Out Your System. Plan an occasional system cleanout day where you consume only fruit and vegetables. The high water content of fruit and vegetables facilitates the spread of their valuable nutrients through your body and helps flush out the wastes that have built up from eating the wrong foods.
Natural Health Tip No 6: Relax. Stress and ill health go hand-in-hand. While you can't and shouldn't eliminate stress, you can learn to control it by meditation and relaxation techniques and by regular exercise. If you are currently on prescription drugs, don't stop them without consulting your doctor. But follow these natural health tips and you should be able to lower your cholesterol. In any case, you will certainly be much fitter and healthier.

The Truth About Sleep Deprivation
As you may have discovered through your life, having sleep is very important to your well-being. Sleep is essential to you because sleeping will give you the necessary energy to live and breathe through another demanding and stressful day. Sleeping also gives you the time to take it easy, relax, and to stop thinking about your worries and anxieties that will sometimes trouble you in your waking state.
Sleep also helps to look after your body and help your memory to stay sharp. Sleeping is as important as eating and drinking so we should pay attention to our sleeping habits like we check our bank accounts. Without proper sleep, your body will not function efficiently.
Unfortunately, most people feel they do not get enough sleep. Today?s high-speed lifestyle causes people to experience lack of sleep. This is largely due to over working and poor diet; while others experience a variety of sleep disorders that just stop them from getting enough sleep.
There are different reasons for sleep deprivation. Somniphobia, (fear of sleeping) tension or stress, environmental noises, working at a night shift, and travelling around from place to place can cause sleep deprivation. But the most common and well-known causes of sleep deprivation are sleep disorders, and the best known sleep disorder is insomnia.
Sleep disorders cause lack of sleep and excessive sleepiness (normally occurs during the day) too. However excessive sleepiness caused by sleep disorders is not healthy. They do not have good quality like the sleep a normal person will experience.
The Sleep Process
As we fall asleep, we enter the transition sleep called Stage 1 and begin our first sleep cycle. Within a few minutes we go into our Stage 2 sleep.
Stage 2 sleep is where the other three stages come from. Within 15-20 minutes we have gradually evolved into Stage 3 then Stage 4 sleep.
Stages 2, 3, 4 are called delta sleep or NREM (non-rapid eye movement) sleep. Our respiration and heart beat slowdown during! these 4 stages. Our body also becomes immobile.
After almost half an hour of NREM sleep, our brain goes loco and we go back to stage 2 sleep and then go to REM (rapid eye movement) sleep where our brain becomes very active and our respiration and heart rate increases again.
This is the stage where our dreams occur. Our eyes also move in all directions under our eyelids. The REM sleep will happen for only about 10-20 minutes and then goes back to stage 2 again. This marks the end of the first sleep cycle and then starts all over again.
As we start all over again we gradually lose our time for NREM sleep and replace it with longer alternating stage 2 and REM sleep and by the final sleep cycle, we will spend about half our time in stage 2 sleep and half in REM sleep. Sleep will normally end after six cycles.

Watch Your Weight This Halloween
For those of us who are looking for quick weight loss, Halloween can be a scary experience! While just one night of indulgence in Halloween candy might not be enough to break your belt, dipping into the leftover stockpile for weeks on end will surely derail your diet or weight loss program.
In 1921, in Anoka, MN, the United States enjoyed our first recorded instance of a Halloween celebration. Annual candy consumption has climbed almost unabated since then. According to the Census Bureau, Americans eat nearly a half-pound of candy each week for an average of 25 pounds of candy a year. Candy is big business, with the United States boasting 1,040 manufacturing establishments producing chocolate and cocoa products in 2001. These establishments employed 45,913 people and shipped $12 billion worth of goods that year. Another 616 U.S. establishments manufactured non-chocolate confectionery products in 2001. These establishments employed 26,400 people and shipped $7 billion worth of goods that year (source: census.gov).
The overwhelming popularity of the South Beach Diet, Zone Diet, and Atkins Diet has prompted low-carb weight watchers to eat less candy. Overall consumption has actually declined over the last few years; as recently as 1997 the average annual candy consumption was a sky-high 27 pounds.
-> The Problem:
Most people on a diet plan or weight control program look at candy as little brightly-colored fat bombs. That assessment isn?t far off the mark, either, with most candy packing little nutritional value and a ton of calories.
Some of the more popular Halloween candy has too many calories to be included in any healthy diet:
* Twizzlers 1 treat size pkg.= 45 calories
* Almond Joy 1 snack size bar = 90 calories
* Milk Duds 1 treat size box = 40 calories
* Butterfinger 1 snack size bar = 100 calories
* Milky Way 1 snack size bar = 90 calories
* SweetTarts 1 treat size pkg. = 50 calories
* 1 Tootsie Pop 1 pop = 60 calories
* 1 Tootsie Roll 1 ! small ro ll = 13 calories
Note: Calorie content is based on 1 serving of Halloween ?snack? or ?fun? size packages, not full size servings found in the candy aisle.
While just a few pieces of Halloween candy won?t obliterate your diet program or weight loss plan, it?s the temptation to keep having ?just one more? that will pack on the pounds. It only takes nine small fun-size candy bars to put on a quarter-pound of fat. Besides candy, Halloween threatens many other high-calorie treats like Caramel apples (243 calories), 8-oz. apple cider and a cake donut (319 calories), or a slice of pumpkin pie (240 calories).
-> The Solution:
Is it possible to cope with the menace of Halloween candy without taking all the fun out of the holiday? Absolutely! If you?re looking for fast weight loss, and don?t want Halloween to bring your fat loss to a screeching halt, consider these healthy Halloween tips:
1) Walk with your kids while they?re trick-or-treating. A 165-lb. woman strolling along (walking slowly) for one hour will burn approximately 150 calories (source: caloriesperhour.com).
2) Out of sight, out of mind. When the kids have unloaded their stash, store it in an airtight container and put it in the cupboard. A bowl full of candy on the counter is an open invitation to have ?just one?, but a stockpile you can?t see is less tempting.
3) If you?re going to give out candy to trick-or-treaters on Halloween, don?t buy it until October 31st. Having a candy supply in the house before Halloween only entices you to have some early.
4) If you must buy candy before Halloween, buy a kind you don?t like. Again, this will reduce the temptation for you to dig in.
5) Hosting a Halloween party? Supply vegetables, healthy dips, and low fat snacking alternatives instead of candy.
6) Set a Halloween candy deadline by which all Halloween candy must be either consumed (by the kids) or it will be thrown away. Saving that candy for weeks, or even months, only keeps temptation in the house! .
7) Put more emphasis on dressing up in a great costume, and less on candy. This is especially true for the kids, who often view Halloween as a candy free-for-all dream come true.
8) By hosting a party on Halloween night, you can control the menu and have fun with friends at the same time.
9) Focus on Halloween activities other than eating. There are lots of options available, from hayrides to haunted houses to bonfires.
10) Candy has a long shelf life, and there?s no reason why you couldn?t put some of it in airtight bags and store it in the freezer. Allow the kids to take out one bag every two weeks until it?s gone. This tactic will at least space out the temptation and minimize candy binge eating.
Of course, the absolute best way to avoid weight gain, and perhaps even achieve some easy weight loss, during the Halloween season is to bump up the amount of exercise you?re getting. There?s no better way to lose weight fast than a healthy diet and regular exercise.
Make sure the workout you?re doing includes both aerobic and resistance training, as it is critical to get both types of exercise to maximize weight loss. It?s also important to exercise for at least thirty minutes, three times per week, which is the most recent recommendation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (source: cdc.gov).
A fantastic strategy is to find the best weight loss program for you now, before Halloween hits. The reason is that the last three months of the year are packed with holidays, special dinners and seasonal treats. Starting with Halloween candy and ending with Christmas fudge, many people find that they?re packing on more pounds during this period than they do any other time of year.
Joining a gym is an excellent way to combat Halloween and holiday weight gain. Finding a good gym to join now will not only help keep off those holiday pounds, but will even make you slimmer by New Years.

Want To Feel Good Or Don't You?
Diet is very important when you are experiencing an oily skin condition. If you eat a lot of refined carbohydrates and sugar they will create more insulin that produce more hormones, which will create more sebum (oil), and in turn, will create more bacteria and more acne. You have probably heard refined sugar, especially excess sugar, is not good for you. Remember the barometer, (more about the ?Skin Barometer? in my book) if you have too much of it, it will tell you that you are doing bad things to yourself. The average person eats over 150 pounds of sugar a year. Refined Carbohydrates you want to avoid come in many forms.
When you eat refined carbohydrates they get digested and your body turns them into sugar. You do not need to add a lot of refined sugar to your diet, your body will produce what it needs naturally.
Eat foods that have the nutrients your body wants, have your body love you, not hate you. If your body hates you, you will definitely know by the way you feel after you eat something!
You need a healthy balance from the inside out to have amazing skin. What you want to do is nourish your skin, by eating well and choosing quality foods. By doing this, you could quite possibly take years off of your looks and add years to your life. I want to share with you why it is so important to choose the proper foods to nourish the skin. By eating the proper foods, it will increase your chances of succeeding. The choice is really up to you.
I discuss the importance of safe, pure and natural skin care products. I will teach you what to look for and how to read the labels of your skin care products. I also recommend an eating well diet to have healthy skin from the inside out. After reading my book you will be well on your way to beautiful skin and a natural state of well being.
Memory Foam Toppers
Each of us wishes to have a relaxed and composed night's sleep after a hectic day's work. But many of us are unable to achieve a proper sleep because we don't use comfortable bedclothes. A bed with a well designed mattress or a topper gives us proper relaxation and a good quality night's sleep. The memory foam mattresses or Memory Foam Toppers provides us the comfort that a tired body requires.
The Memory foams were discovered by the NASA group in the 1970s for the use in space crafts to provide comfort to the astronauts. Later on these Memory Foams were used in the mattresses, toppers, pillows, infant cribs, computer cases and many others.
The combination of the chemicals used determines the visco-elastic nature of the polyurethane foam and depending on such combination; the foam has the characteristic of being firmer in cooler temperature and softer in warmer environments. Besides, these foams are denser than other foams and they react with body heat. Consequently, within a few minutes the product takes the shape of the body.
The property of these polyurethane foams could be verified by pressing one's hand on the foam and then removing it. The foam leaves a clear impression of the hand. The Memory Foam Mattresses found huge sale in the market. The people who don't want to change their conventional mattresses by a new one but at the same time wants to enjoy a cool and composed sleep can easily opt for Memory foam toppers.
They provide a better sleep surface. This piece is usually rolled over a full mattress, allowing the customer to sleep in comfort. The Memory Foam Ultra mattress toppers also moulds to our body contours to help prevent tossing and turning during the night. When a person lies down on these Memory Foam Toppers, the heat and pressure sensitive foam reacts to his body's weight and temperature and it takes the shape of the body.
Thus, they ensure sleep in any position -back, stomach or side because the weight of the body is uniformly distributed and the spin! e remain s in a neutral position. The other surfaces support our body at the shoulders, hips and legs only. This causes our spine to droop in other areas, which can often result in discomfort, and even back pain.
Anyone who suffers from insomnia and back pain can benefit from this technology. These Memory Foam Toppers are quite affordable and portable. They come in various sizes and can be rolled over any plain surface to relax and rest.
Thus the Memory Foam toppers provide proper padding to the bed and help a person to sleep in peace. It provides relaxation from head to the toe and energizes the muscles to start afresh every single day.

What Is The Purpose Of Ayurveda
?Life science? is what Ayurveda means in Sanskrit. It is derived from the two words ?Ayu? meaning life and ?Veda? meaning knowledge or science. Ayurveda is not just a preventive health care system; it is a way of life that found its origins in ancient India 5,000 years ago.
According to this system, health is determined by three biological principles, called ?Doshas?. The three ?Doshas? are Vata, Pitta and Kapha, each controlling movement, metabolism and structure.
The body, mind and spirit is free of disease when the ?Doshas? are in equilibrium. Disease strikes when there is an imbalance or disequilibrium in even one of these ?Doshas?. Balance is the key. Improper diet, pollution, unhealthy habits are just some of the reasons that lead to an imbalance.
Ayurveda emphasizes the use of mind, body and spirit to prevent and fight diseases. Thus it strives to restore the innate harmony of the individual. The main thrust of Ayurveda is to synchronize and coordinate the various bodily functions by identifying the imbalance in the body. The underlying principle is that if the roots are watered well, the plant will flourish. Sleep, diet, internal cleansing and lifestyle are given as much or perhaps more importance than herbs and potions.
Ayurveda places a lot of importance on learning. In this method, treatment is based on the physician?s awareness of the world. Insights are gained by seeing, smelling, tasting and listening. Ayurveda seeks to restore a person?s health by bringing him into equilibrium with his true self. Thus the aims of Ayurveda are:
Ayurveda is rightly enjoying widespread resurgence all over the world. With healthcare becoming exorbitant and fraught with risks, health-conscious individuals are taking more responsibility for their own health and well-being. People have started realizing that alternative holistic health systems like Ayurveda will help them ! lead a h ealthy life and prevent diseases even before they occur.
Ayurveda has offered an interesting theory of disease. Effective digestion is crucial to health, and any problems in the digestive system causes toxins to build up within the body and clog the channels in the body. This weakens the physiology and creates the right conditions for disease and infection. Rejuvenation is possible only through cleansing programs like Panchkarma. These programs are designed to flush toxins from the body.
Ayurveda depends a lot on herbs, roots, grass and other natural products. Ayurveda also pioneered the science of herbal combination ? a happy blending of a variety of herbs to produce a medication that offers the dual benefits of synergy and balance. Sometimes, an Ayurvedic formulation may contain over twenty or more spices and herbs. The combination of primary herbs, balancing herbs and supporting herbs expedite the healing process.
The ayurvedic approach is rising in popularity because it is comprehensive and gentle. Instant cures through pill-popping are foreign to Ayurveda. Patience and persistence pays because Ayurveda seeks to correct the source of the problem. For those who can commit themselves to the effort Ayurveda offers effective, cumulative health benefits and can lead to a happy, healthy and joyful life.

Men Want Real Women What's A Woman To Do?
Did you know Katie Couric said ?respect your wrinkles!? on NBC?s Today Show? Matt Lauer said ?confident women? are a turn-on and Al Roker agrees, ?Women look sexy when they?re just themselves, wearing jeans and a tee-shirt with less makeup.?
They were discussing a poll released by Zogby International and ladies, men don?t particularly care for the ?Barbie doll look?, rather from the 1,000 men who were surveyed, only 6% prefer Botox to wrinkles, 69% thought breast implants are not sexy and 50% want women to ditch the lipstick.
Then from Page Six, New York Post, April 26th edition, ?You Sexy Thing!? based on a new poll by Zogby International says it?s bad news for plastic surgeons because men prefer the natural look!
That?s right - What men want and what they are looking for is changing! Most men aren?t attracted to plastic, made-up women; instead, they want a natural, wholesome looking woman without the pulled, unnatural looking face most plastic surgery procedures produce, breast implants or Botox that paralyzes smiles and expressions.
Men want ?real? women who aren?t afraid to show off their God-given assets. They want women who will ?say no? to docs who want to fill them up with Restylane, Botox and other dangerous substances that can harm and possibly maim the user long-term.
So, if men don?t go for the Botox, breast enhanced implants, pulled face ?Barbie Doll? look, who are these women trying to please? Themselves? Every time you choose surgery, you choose risk! Not just risk from the procedure but also the risk that men may think you less attractive!!!
What?s a woman to do? How can a woman look and feel vibrantly younger without the ?crutches? we?ve come to rely on?
Many people have been brainwashed to believe that when they experience facial aging, there?s only one remedy - see the doc for surgery, laser, or injections. These temporary and very expensive procedures are risky; the patient believes they can buy a quick fix and then worry about the ! real agi ng later. Most patients do not realize that they?re not prolonging the aging process with these procedures; rather they?re masking aging in such a way that they will always be a slave to the next injection, a tweak here and there and most importantly, greater risk as the body compensates for foreign substances and healing requirements.
Trying to stave off Mother Nature is a very dangerous game when you try to fool her with unnatural means. After all, when one sees sagging, there are only a few options:
1) Do nothing and feel dowdy and old from your 40?s onward 2) Spend your nest egg on injections, facial plastic surgery and lasers 3) Learn how to lift your face at home with a tried and proven method that keeps you looking younger and healthier day after day with no recuperative time, risk or financial burden.
Option #3 is by far the safest alternative because you can tone and tighten your facial muscles in only a few minutes a day. These muscles will contract, giving you a fresh, young appearance and your skin will look radiant from increased oxygen. Pain in the Neck could be from Your Computer
Neck pain can really get irritating if it persists for long periods of time. The pain can get unbearable that's why some people succumb to taking medications or pain relievers only to find out that they don't do them any good. Let's check out these simple and basic tips on how to treat and relieve you from neck pain.
1. Get spinal checkups regularly.
It is very important to always keep your spine aligned. This can ensure the proper functioning of your neck and back, specifically the upper region. Your chiropractor will do spinal adjustments on you. This can decrease the stress on your thoracic and cervical spines. It also improves the communication between your brain and all parts of the body. As a result, a happier and healthier you.
2. Always be conscious of your posture.
There are a lot of people who exhibit poor posture. When asked to stand up straight, they are unable to exude the proper posture anymore. This is because they have been used to that kind of posture and they are unaware of it already. Proper posture does not only involve the back, as lot may think. It also includes the neck. Poor posture, if not dealt with can give rise to neck pain as well.
3. Exercise regularly.
Exercising does not only do good to the body's muscular and cardiovascular system but to the skeletal system, too. For an efficient and effective program, you have to do at least three sessions a week for about forty minutes. In order to be more inspired to do these exercises, involve the whole family and your friends. It will benefit, not only yourself, but your loved ones as well.
4. Eat well and eat right.
Naturally, you keep your body healthy by eating the right food at the right amount. When you observe proper diet and nutrition, your body will the given the appropriate energy or fuel that can increase your endurance and performance. It can also increase your body's immune system to fight injuries and sickness. It can speep your recovery from injury ! and it a lso makes you feel good. If you are having a hard time eating right, you might as well consider taking up dietary supplements to cover up for vitamin and mineral deficiencies in your body.
5. Manage stress.
There are a lot of techniques devised to relieve stress, if not to eliminate it totally. Usually, stress is carried on the upper back, the shoulders, and the neck. If you prefer, go to your nearest chiropractor to ask about these techniques and how to do them the right way.
6. Do not put pressure on your neck.
For example, while using the telephone, do not use your neck and shoulders to hold it while you talk. In the office, always sit properly and keep your neck straight by working at eye level. You can unconsciously get neck pain during sleep because you are unaware of your movements. You can use a cervical pillow for this. You can also roll a towel and put it around the curve of your neck while you sleep. Never sleep on your stomach.
7. Stretch.
It is always best to do stretching if possible. In the office or at home, you can take short breaks just to reduce the tension. Some massage won't hurt either. It can decrease the tension not only on your shoulders but also on your neck.
Do not let yourself get weighed down by neck pain. If you are one of those people suffering from neck pain, do not fret. There are a lot of simple techniques and remedies you can get and use wherever you may be.
There are other risks as you sit in front of that computer but it would be to much to write about in this article, so if you would like to learn more about other risks such as:
Eye strain
RSI (Repetitive Stress Syndrome)
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Constant Head Aches
Dizziness
Breathing Problems
Difficulty Concentrating
You can learn all about this in the book: ?The Painless PC?

Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) as a Fun Exercise Program
One of the main reasons people quit an exercise program is a lack of motivation and goal setting. You may start an exercise program in hopes of losing weight and becoming more fit. However, as you continue exercising, you may feel that you're putting in so much effort but gaining so little. You become unmotivated because it's just too much work.
With Dance Dance Revolution (DDR), kids, teens, and adults can find a way to stay motivated, exercise, and have more fun. Dance Dance Revolution is a music game available on both console and arcade. You can choose from a variety of energetic dance songs. As the song plays, you have to step on a specific pattern of arrows in response to the song's beat.
Like most games, learning Dance Dance Revolution takes practice. There is a range of tempos, song genres, and step difficulties, so there is something for everyone. Beginners can start with easy slow-paced songs. To get better, simply practice and become familiar with the songs. As you progress you can gradually choose faster songs and more difficult step patterns. With enough practice and persistence you'll gain stamina, become better at foot-eye coordination, and have a better sense of rhythm.
Since the game grades you on how well you've played each song, it is easy to set goals and stay motivated. For example, if you achieved a 'C' rating on a song, you can set a goal to get a 'B' rating in a certain timeframe. If you failed a song, you can set a goal to pass that song in a certain number of tries. Also, with a partner, you can both play the same song and participate in some friendly competition. This competition adds a great deal of fun. Furthermore, it helps you strive to improve and keep playing so you can beat your dance partner.
To play Dance Dance Revolution, check out local arcades and see if any of them has a Dance Dance Revolution arcade machine. If they don't, or you don't want to travel to an arcade, you can get a Dance Dance Revolution game for a console li! ke Plays tation, Playstation 2, or XBox. Of course, you could play with a regular controller but then you wouldn't be exercising (unless you consider finger manipulation exercising). To experience the game the right way, you'll need a dance pad.
There are three main types of dance pads: soft thin pads, ignition pads, and metal pads. Soft thin pads are flexible, made of plastic, and wear out quickly. They tend to slip around a lot. I have to constantly realign my soft thin pad while playing harder songs. If you simply want to test out DDR, soft thin pads are great. Ignition pads are soft pads which have a foam insert. The foam insert provides weight, durability, and comfort. It feels different from the arcade but is easy to adapt to. Like the soft thin pads, ignition pads will wear out. The best pads for expert players are the metal pads. They have been designed to give more of that arcade feel. They have greater durability and accuracy.
Visit http://www.ddrdancepadreviews.bravehost.com/ for descriptions of some specific DDR dance pads.
How to Remove Whiteheads
Before you try to remove whiteheads on your own, it's important for you to realize what they are. Many people think that since it looks like a pimple, they can just use normal acne medication and the problem will go away. This is simply not the case with whiteheads.
First lets look at what exactly is happening within the skin that causes a whitehead. Every pore on your body creates oil, called sebum. Sebum lubricates and moisturizes your skin to keep it healthy. Problems begin to present themselves whenever the pore that the sebum is released from becomes blocked. If the pore remains open then the sebum will oxidize and turn black. However, if the pore closes up, the bacteria will begin to grow and leave the remains white, which is where the term whitehead originates. While this may look like a normal pimple, it is definitely not the same.
To begin clearing up whiteheads it should be mentioned that you never squeeze or try to remove them by pressure without the proper tools. If you squeeze and pick you will only break the skin and leave it open for infection and potentially leave a scar. The best way to remove whiteheads from your face is with a comedone remover. Comedone is just another name for the blockage of pores.
This tool is made of stainless steel and has an interesting loop design which helps remove the whitehead without damaging the skin. Using this device couldn't be simpler. You would use this tool immediately after steaming the face with a hot washcloth or after a hot bath. This is to insure that you can easily remove whitehead material. Once the whitehead breaks the top layer of the skin, press the loop end over the whitehead and the trapped material will be dislodged. Once this process is complete, be sure to clean your face again with warm water to ensure that everything has been removed from the pore.
If you find it difficult to remove whiteheads then you may consider using a cream or gel designed to treat blackheads. Many of the medications available for the t! reatment of blackheads will also be effective for clearing up whiteheads. Most of these medicines include retinoid, which will slow the growth of the white head before it becomes too big of a problem.
Depending on your face type, you may be given either a retinoid cream or lotion that will moisturize the skin and loosen the blockage. If you choose this route for clearing up whiteheads, it is important that you speak with a dermatologist to determine which type of treatment is best for you.
If home treatment isn't the way you'd prefer to go, then please talk to your dermatologist. There are procedures to remove whiteheads that only a licensed dermatologist can do, and sometimes these methods are the best.

Meditation also Gave Me Something else
Some of the greatest benefits for me have been my ability to tap into 'my well of inner peace' whenever I need to, my connection with, and to, spirit, achievement of greater clarity and balance at the end of each session, and overall wellbeing. Meditation also gave me something else.
The meditation journey for me involved profound inner change as I stepped into enlightenment. Once that door opened for me, well that was it! No turning back...ever - something which no-one ever told me.
Enlightenment, for me, is such a strange thing, and of course is many things to many people. When I stepped into this state of being, I waited for the whiz bang fireworks to begin, hear the blaring trumpets and the voice of God (which I imagined would be kind of booming and earth shattering!). I?m not sure what else I expected but what I experienced was a deep sense of stillness. The door opened, I stepped through the doorway, and how I perceived life changed forever. The clarity with which I saw things in that moment almost blinded me ? yet it was so gentle.
This didn?t mean to say I ceased doing mundane things such as housework, cooking and cleaning. No - unfortunately that continued and continues to this day and will in the future also. Nope, for me enlightenment meant that I simply knew things and accepted; some possibly call this ?Truth?.
I believe that Truth or Enlightenment is knowing absolutely everything about all things at the exact same time without pinpointing one solitary thing.
Truth is much like acknowledging anything really, in a passive way. Words are grossly inadequate in describing this sense of being. All I can say is it?s simply too HUGE to explain with words but it?s something I experience whenever I meditate, or zone out.
I?m not immune to daily issues however I?m not impacted to the same degree as before either. I can say that whilst chaos reigns around me I can easily tap into my well of inner peace. It?s helped me through the many trials and tribulat! ions I c all life and thank my lucky stars that I started practising meditation when I did.
Of course this practise is open to anyone who?s willing to put in the time and practise (it took me five months to really get going). Once you begin this journey you?ll notice how much more peaceful, centred and balanced you become.
I've often heard say I'd love to meditate because of my anxiety and stress levels, however I have absolutely no time...
If you have next to no time ? many don?t and sometimes I don't ? however you?d really love to begin meditating because you believe there are benefits for doing so, consider this. Three minutes is a passing conversation with a work colleague at the elevator door, three minutes flicking through a magazine at the newsagency or news stand, or three minutes admiring a merchandise display outside your favourite store window. You could do a three minute breath meditation, three minute journal writing, three minute focus on an object, or even take a three minute walk. See! In next to no time at all you could be meditating and accessing your own well of inner peace!
Meditation could bring about profound changes for you too, as well as achieve overall wellbeing, peacefulness, clarity and balance, and connection to spirit and yourself. There are six billion people on this planet so your experience will be different to mine.
If you?ve never tried it before why not try it sometime soon, you might just get to thoroughly enjoy the benefits it can bring.

Diet Tips Five Easy Ways to Lose Weight Fast!
Many people hate the idea of rigid diets - the good news is that if follow the five proven weight loss tips below, you will lose weight easily.
The diet tips require no real willpower and can improve anyone?s diet and chances of healthy weight control.
1. Drink Water
One of the most effective diet tips is to drink plenty of water. In fact, water is possibly the single most important catalyst in losing weight and keeping it off.
Water acts as a natural appetite suppressant by keeping your stomach full and fending off dehydration that leads to hunger cravings. Water also provides the additional benefit of flushing out toxins from the body and keeping it hydrated.
Water also helps your body metabolize stored fat by helping the kidneys flush out waste. When you don?t drink enough water the liver that works to provide stored fat for energy also takes on the role of helping the kidneys eliminate waste and thus becomes less effective at metabolizing fat.
2. Eat Breakfast
Many people believe one of the best diet tips is skipping breakfast, as it will help them lose weight, this is totally incorrect. Skipping breakfast can make you hungrier later in the day leading to distorted satiety signals (i.e. it's hard to determine when you're full). This can actually result in eating more as a result.
If you don?t have time to eat breakfast or don?t like to, at least have a liquid meal to fuel your body after sleeping and having no nutrition for several hours.
3. Increase Fibre Intake
Eating lots of foods rich in fibre helps keep food moving through your bowels. Just like water, fiber rich foods bulk you up and make you feel full. In fact, the average person could lose around 10 pounds a year just from doubling their fiber intake.
High fiber foods are generally low in calories and fill you up, so eating more of them means you?re eating fewer calories and leaving less room for calories from other foods. Fiber also cuts calories by attaching itself to some! of the other proteins and fats that you eat and eliminates them as well.
The average person consumes about 8g of fiber per day, but many experts recommend 25g. Start your day with a high fiber cereal and keep eating fibre throughout the day.
4. Eat Healthy Fats
Many experts claim that fat causes obesity, raises your cholesterol and causes heart disease, but this is not strictly true. If fat is all that bad, why is it part of our natural diet chain? The reason is fat can be very good for you.
Fat provides the body with essential fatty acids (linoleic and linolenic acids) needed for normal reproduction and growth, as well as for production of prostaglandin, a hormone like compound that regulates blood pressure, blood clotting, and inflammation.
When eating fats you should eat healthy fats. Eating ?healthy? fats includes the cold-water fish, mackerel and salmon, nuts, and olive oil. By eating healthy fats over unhealthy ones you will lose weight.
5. Lean Protein
Protein is a great weight control tool because of the immediate satiety factor and because it keeps you full for longer periods. It also balances out carbs by preventing insulin spikes that can lead to a drain in energy and sugar cravings.
Protein also helps maintain muscle mass, which is very important in the fat burning process. At least 20% of calories should be in the form of protein.

I Don't Think I Can Be Hypnotized
?I don?t think I can be hypnotized,? and ?I went for hypnosis once, but couldn?t ?go under?? are common statements heard in the initial conversations with those inquiring about hypnotherapy.
The fact is 90 ? 90% of adults can be hypnotized. The best subjects for hypnosis are people who are highly intelligent and who have a strong will. Why? Hypnosis depends more upon imagination than on will and most intelligent people have active imaginations. Intelligence and a strong will lend understanding of what hypnosis is and motivation to achieve it, lessening any resistance to the process. It is resistance and fear that are the culprits generally preventing hypnosis.
There are some who cannot be hypnotized: children or mentally challenged adults who don?t understand the words of the hypnotist, those who are intoxicated or high from drug use and those who are afraid. Some people are afraid of the process and some are afraid of what might be revealed or learned. When the fear is relieved, they are then candidates for hypnosis. If a client is afraid of the process it is important that he understand that during hypnosis he (or she) is wide awake, knows everything that is happening, is always in control and will not accept, do or say anything he doesn?t wish to accept, do or say. The client is never in a state that he loses consciousness or control. You cannot get stuck in hypnosis and you cannot get trapped in an emotional state experienced during hypnosis.
Hypnosis is simply a tool that allows you to work with the subconscious mind. A client who is afraid of what the subconscious mind will reveal needs to know that he does not have to ?spill his deepest secrets? if that doesn?t feel safe. Sometimes, if healing is to take place, deeply held information will need to be examined. If the client does not feel safe in revealing this kind of information he needs to find a therapist with whom he can feel safe.
We?ve all been in hypnosis without knowing it. If you?ve been so involved in a TV! program , a movie or a good book that you didn?t hear some one call your name, you were in hypnosis. If you missed a freeway exit because you were deep in thought about something other than driving, you were in hypnosis (Now that really is scary!). Hypnosis is no big deal. It is a wonderful tool for helping you let go of old, limiting beliefs and programs and developing new, positive beliefs and programs that lead to a healthier, happier life.
?So what can hypnosis be used for once I?ve attained it.?? you ask. It can help change unwanted habits such as smoking, nail-biting, and over-eating, to name a few. It can help you deal with uncontrollable fears and phobias, help you heal more quickly after surgery, help you deal with emotions such as anger, rage, depression, and feelings of not-good-enough,. It can help you improve your golf or tennis games or help you excel on the ski slopes. The uses of hypnosis and hypnotherapy are limited only by the imagination and skill of the therapist and the willingness of the client to do the work and change their behavior or mindset.

Discover the Health Benefits of Quercetin
You've heard it a million and one times...an apple a day keeps the doctor away.
Well now we may know a little bit better why this old adage is true.
Apples are a rich source of a potent flavonoid called quercetin. It is a pigment with antioxidant properties and found in not only apples, but red wine, red grapes, cherries, and raspberries.
Notice that all of these fruits have dark pigment. You've probably heard by now that red wine, for example, is healthier than white wine. This is in part due to the higher flavonoid content.
However, quercetin can also be found in non-red pigmented fruits and veggies such as broccoli, a variety of leafy greens, citrus fruits, and more.
Visit the page benefits of quercetin to learn about two other excellent sources of this flavonoid.
Health Benefits
Quercetin has been ascribed a wide range of benefits. Although a lot of this research is in its preliminary phases, some of the possible health benefits include:
- neutralizing free radicals before they damage cells because of its antioxidant properties
- helping combat prostate cancer
- alleviatie bruising, varicose veins, and improve fragile capillaries
- enhancing cardiovascular health by countering the oxidation of bad cholesterol
- improve lung functioning and a host of respiratory diseases (ex: bronchitis, asthma, emphysema, etc)
Quercetin is not the only flavonoid known to have benefits. Others worthy of mention are: hesperidin and rutin. All three are often combined together in quality nutritional supplements for synergistic effects.
Quercetin and Bromelain
Quercetin and bromelain are often searched for together too.
Bromelain is a beneficial digestive enzyme derived from pineapple.
Other beneficial enzymes in this class include: lipase and protease, which are often combined together in quality supplement.
Precautions and Side Effects
Various studies with quercetin have not shown any side effect! s to dat e. However, research into quercetin is in its early stages so if you are considering using this supplement do not use mega-doses.
Efficacy and safety for such dosages has not yet been established.
Always talk to your doctor before beginning supplementation of any kind.
Now that you're armed with this information, your next step is to learn how to choose a quality quercetin supplement.
This is important because the supplement market is unregulated and many products have been shown to not even contain what's stated on the label.
Get more info on the benefits of quercetin at Nutritional Supplement Info and learn how to pick a quality quercetin supplement at: http://www.nutritional-supplement-info.com/quercitin.html
Facing Sun Effects
A secret has been revealed in the news over the past few weeks. I was a part of that secret. What was the secret you ask? Men are now using skin care products as a part of their daily activities!
I started a few months ago due to something I learned about myself. I had my picture taken. Not just a standard picture. I had my picture taken with a special ultraviolet camera and light that shows damaged skin due to excessive sun exposure. First they took a picture of my face with standard light. Although not a flattering picture, it looked like I expected. Then they took a picture of my face with the ultraviolet light. What did I look like? I looked like I had a face FULL of freckles. Only these freckles weren't the cute ones that would have showed up in the first picture. They showed that I have a significant amount of sun damage. I guess my early years of working and playing outside all summer long with little or no sun protection is catching up with me.
It is common knowledge that sun damaged skin will cause premature signs of aging skin (wrinkling, leathery appearance and feel, etc.) as well as being a cause of skin cancer. So, I decided to do something about it. One of those things is to take better care of my skin. I am using skin care products that have a sunscreen built in. These same products also contain enzymes that can help speed cell renewal in sun damaged skin.
Yes, the secret is out. I am using skin care products every day. My wife says my complexion is also better because of it. I look forward to having my picture taken in the future. Maybe my complexion isn't the only thing that is improving.

Massage Therapy ? Reap the Benefits
Captain Hook is sitting in front of a job counselor?s desk and she's saying, Hmmm...your top choices are piracy or massage therapy. Let's see if we can narrow this down a bit?. We had our fun at the expense of massage therapy, now let us find what is massage therapy and its best features.
Massage therapy is applied to manipulate joints and the soft tissue of the body. Soft tissues include tendons and associated fascia, skin, ligaments and muscles.
Massage is one of the oldest forms of therapy practiced by the celebrated Greek, Roman, Chinese and Indian civilizations.
4700 years ago, ancient eastern Chinese practiced massage to heal a variety of ailments from paralysis to labour pains. Ayurvedha, a traditional form of Indian medicine uses a variety of aromatherapy oils and spices to give massage therapy.
Introduced in 19th century, the Swedish massage is the most practiced form in western culture. The Swedish therapy is said to have borrowed many of the techniques from Rome, Greece, Egypt and China.
In western hospitals, soldiers who fought in World War I were administered massage for nerve damage and to soothe shell shock. Many of our now popular modern massage techniques were created in order to heal specific health conditions.
When massage therapy is given to a person, many different physiological effects are achieved while the therapist?s hands move over the body. The different movements can physically stretch tendons and fascia, ligaments and muscles. Massage therapy also encourages the circulation through the tissue, inhibits muscular spasms and can be either stimulating or sedating to the nervous system.
Health problems can benefit from massage therapy since the manipulation of soft tissues affects many of our bodily systems.
Benefits from massage therapy are extensive. Massage therapy treatment can develop, rehabilitate or augment physical function. Relief from physical dysfunction and pain can also be achieved. Tightened and tense muscles ca! n be rel axed. Massage therapy also improves the recovery time, circulation and immune system function. It creates a sense of relaxation and well being, reduces stress and controls acute or chronic pain by massage therapy.
Today, massage therapy is used for treating a wide range of ages ? from senior to babies in a variety of intensive care, health club, and health clinic and hospital settings.
To get even glide and a smooth workability, oils are applied in massage therapy. Some popular oils used are Almond oil, Grapeseed oil, Apricot oil, Avocado oil, Jojoba oil, Wheat germ oil and Hazelnut oil.

Herbal Nutrition Supplement AntiAging Benefits
Herbal nutrition supplement anti-aging health benefits -- is it possible that an anti-aging herbal nutrition supplement can slow the aging process? Absolutely! Numerous clinical studies have shown and are still discovering the wide-ranging health benefits of many herbs and nutrition supplements.
A healthy lifestyle includes having a sensible diet with nutritional supplements, adequate quality sleep, reasonable exercise and weight management. And slowing down the aging process includes providing your body all the nutrients it requires. Taking a high-quality, broad-spectrum vitamin/mineral/nutrition supplement helps fill in the dietary gaps that everyone will have.
Vitamins and minerals are only the beginning. Your body needs and will use a wide array of herbal nutrition supplement nutrients that have been proven to have specific health benefits. Here are examples:
1. Bilberry Extract - improves eye health and night vision. Clinical tests confirm that the herbal nutrition supplement bilberry is effective in treating eye diseases such as cataracts, retinitis pigmentosa, glaucoma and myopia.
2. Cranberry Extract - used for prevention and treatment of urinary tract infections and type 2 diabetes.
3. Ginger Extract - may be beneficial for irritable bowel syndrome, morning sickness, nausea, osteoarthritis, atherosclerosis, gastro intestinal disorders, hay fever, HIV support, low back pain, migraines and rheumatoid arthritis.
4. Gingko Biloba Extract - this herbal nutrition supplement promotes mental clarity and concentration, increases alertness and short-term memory and is used in cardiac protection formulas. It offers significant protection against the development of Alzheimer's disease, hearing loss and strokes.
5. Green Tea Extract - may be helpful in improving cognitive performance, treating stomach disorders, vomiting, diarrhea and headaches. Green tea may be beneficial in reducing the risk of breast cancer, prostate cancer, colon cancer and gastr! ic cance r. May be beneficial to maintain remission in persons with Crohn's disease, to prevent Parkinson's disease and help protect against heart disease, dental caries and kidney stones.
6. Guggulipid Extract - is used for arthritis, lowering high cholesterol, atherosclerosis, nodulocystic acne, skin diseases and weight loss.
7. Hawthorne Berry Extract - used for cardiovascular conditions such as congestive heart failure and coronary circulation problems and to treat both low and high blood pressure.
8. Mahonia Grape Extract - this herbal nutrition supplement is used to treat acne, chronic constipation, colds, flu, eczema, gallbladder conditions, dysentery, malaria, parasites, psoriasis and urinary tract infections.

10. Tumeric Extract - may be beneficial for rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, atherosclerosis, bursitis, genital herpes, hepatitis, HIV support, low back pain and osteoarthritis.
Should you take each herbal nutrition supplement individually? When trying to design your own supplement plan, it's easy to end up with a dozen or more individual supplements to take daily, which is both a hassle and expensive. Besides, if certain substances are out of balance, they can combine to produce other unwanted compounds that can be harmful.
Also, women need a different formula than men. A woman's herbal nutrition supplement product should contain nutrients proven by clinical studies to support the balancing of female hormones. For example, red clover is helpful for menopausal symptoms, hot flashes and cyclic breast tenderness. A men's product should contain ingredients that support healthy male prostate like saw palmetto that is used for symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), improving sexual vigor and stimulating hair growth.
Learn as much as! you can about what finding the best herbal nutrition supplement really means. Your health, energy and wellness is the issue. Before spending your money, be informed about the products you'll be taking every day.

Sinus Infection Symptoms
Sinus infections are one of the most common infections across the world. Sinus attacks are caused by an infection in the sinuses or cavities that are present in the bones near the nose. When there is any swelling in these sinuses because of some infection, breathing becomes difficult resulting in fever, headaches, and other discomforts. This is known as sinusitis.
Each sinus or cavity in the skull has an opening that allows free exchange of mucus and air. Each sinus is joined to the other by a mucous membrane lining. When there is an infection like hay fever or a disease like asthma, these sinuses and the lining become inflamed, causing air and mucus to be blocked inside or a vacuum to be created. This can cause pressure on the sinus walls, causing severe pain. There are four kinds of sinuses: frontal sinuses, maxillary sinuses, ethmoid sinuses, and sphenoid sinuses. Any part of these four sinuses can be infected, causing pain in that particular area.
There are different kinds of sinus infection symptoms depending upon the sinus that is infected. There can be pain anywhere near these sinuses. With frontal sinuses there can be pain over the eyes in the brow area; with maxillary sinuses, inside each cheekbone; with ethmoid sinuses, just behind the bridge of the nose and between the eyes; and with sphenoid sinuses, behind the ethmoids in the upper region of the nose and behind the eyes. This pain is the most common symptom for sinusitis.
Other common symptoms for sinus infections are pain in the head, ear or neck; headaches early in the morning; pain in the upper jaw/ cheeks /teeth; swelling of the eyelids; pain between the eyes; nasal discharge; stuffy nose; loss of smell; and tenderness near the nose. Sometimes, there could be fever, tiredness, weakness, severe cough and runny nose. Sinusitis can be diagnosed by tapping the sinus areas with fingertips. Very rarely, acute sinusitis can lead to infection in the brain or some other complications.
There are many over-the-counter de! congesti ons and pain killers available to provide relief from sinus infections. These can be in the form of tablets or sprays. There are also home remedies for sinus infections like a cold/hot compress, jalapeno pepper, ripe grape juice, etc. These can provide effective relief from sinus symptoms. But acute or chronic sinusitis requires continuous treatment from a specialist.
Sinus Infections provides detailed information about sinus infections, sinus infection symptoms, sinus infection treatment, home remedy for sinus infection and more. Sinus Infections is the sister site of Topical Vitamin C.

All About Quercitin
In this article, we'll explain all about quercitin that you need to know. Quercitin, a bioflavonoid ( a type of nutrient that is found in some fruits and green, leafy vegetables, amongst other things such as teas and beans) can be a great asset to your health when taken as a supplement to a healthy diet. Bioflavoniods are the nutrients necessary to maintaining the health of your skin. This is because they help to create collagen, the substance that keeps our skin firm and healthy. Therefore, a lack of collagen can lead to wrinkles and sagginess.
Quercitin has also been shown to help the body improve the health of its capillaries and connective tissues. Due to this, quercitin has been linked to helping to alleve bruising, unsightly varicose veins, fragile cappilaries, and edema. Also, good news for allergies! Quercitin has been known to block the release of histamine, which may help aid conditions brought on by allergies.
After testing at the Mayo clinic, quercitin was also shown to be useful in helping to treat or prevent prostate cancer. In the findings of the Mayo Clinic study about quercitin, Mayo Clinic researcher Nianzeng Xing, Ph.D stated that Our laboratory results showed quercitin blocks the androgen activity in androgen-responsive human prostate cancer cell lines. He then followed this statement by asserting that By blocking the androgen activity, the growth of prostate cancer cells can be prevented or stopped. While this research doesnt prove quercitin will actually truly benefit men with prostate cancer or those at risk, it definitely shows promise as a preliminary study.
While there is not a recommended daily allowance, or RDA, of quercitin, studies have indicated that toxicity with quercitin is largely a non issue. However, a dosage of somewhere between 50 mgs and 150 mgs per day is a reasonable dose, and using mega-doses is not recommended. If you are pregnant or nursing, it would be a good idea to speak with your physician before beginning taking this supplement.

Cold & Flu
Flu
Influenza
Influenza (or as it is commonly known, the flu or the grippe) is a contagious disease, caused by an RNA virus of the orthomyxoviridae family. It rapidly spreads around the world in seasonal epidemics. The name comes from the old medical belief that unfavourable astrological influences cause the disease.
Types
There are three types of the virus, identified by antigenic differences in their nucleoprotein and matrix protein:
Influenza A viruses that infect mammals and birds
Influenza B viruses that infect only humans
Influenza C viruses that infect only humans
The A type of influenza virus is the type most likely to cause epidemics and pandemics. This is because the influenza A virus can undergo antigenic shift and present a new, immune target to susceptible people. Populations tend to have more resistance to influenza B and C, because they only undergo antigenic drift, and have more similarity with previous strains.
The term superflu is used to refer to a strain of flu that spreads unusually quickly, is unusually virulent, or is for which the host is uncommonly unresponsive to treatment. Thus, there is a tendency to apply the term to strains which cause epidemics or pandemics. There is no exact scientific definition of a superflu.
Symptoms
The virus attacks the respiratory tract, is transmitted from person to person by saliva droplets expelled by coughing, and causes the following symptoms:
Fever
Headache
Tiredness (can be extreme)
Dry cough
Sore throat
Nasal congestion
Sneezing
Irritated eyes
Body aches
Extreme coldness
Fatigue
Flu season
Influenza reaches peak prevalence in winter, and because the Northern and Southern Hemisphere have winter at different times of the year, there are actually two flu seasons each year. Hope-Simpson (1981) observed that influenza outbreaks are globally ubiquitous, and consistently occur six months following the time o! f maximu m solar radiation in an area. Therefore, the World Health Organization makes two vaccine formulations every year; one for the Northern, and one for the Southern Hemisphere.
While most influenza outbreaks in the Northern Hemisphere tend to peak in January or February, not all do. For example, the influenza pandemic of 1918 and 1919 reached peak virulence during late spring and summer worldwide, and not until October in the US. It remains unclear why outbreaks of the flu occur seasonally rather than uniformly throughout the year. One possible explanation is that, because people are indoors more often during the winter, they are in close contact more often, and this is enough to trigger the outbreak. Another is that the cold weakens the immune system; however, the virus is contracted in a warm indoor environment in which it can thrive.
Prevention
It is possible to get vaccinated against influenza. However, due to the high mutability of the virus, a particular flu vaccine formulation usually only works for about a year. The World Health Organization co-ordinates the contents of the vaccine each year, to contain the most likely strains of the virus which probably will attack the next year. The flu vaccine is usually recommended for anyone in a high-risk group, who would be likely to suffer complications from influenza.
Treatment
Antiviral treatments that have proven effective in influenza are amantadine, rimantadine, zanamivir, oseltamivir and ribavirin. As most of these substances are expensive, various healthcare organisations and insurers only support their use where this would make a significant difference, e.g. in the elderly.
A trademarked elderberry extract may aid in shortening the duration of an episode of influenza once contracted, though it has no notable preventive effects (Zakay-Rones et al 1995).

Weight Loss Bodybuilding and Exercise Tips Keeping Your Bodyfat Low: Part 2 of 10
My name is Greg Ryan. I am a fitness expert, professional bodybuilder, personal, trainer to movie stars, former employee of Kathy Smith and over 50, 000 hours of paid personal training sessions under my belt. For the last twenty years I have been able to continually make progress, stay consistent and have some fun in my quest to be in better shape. One very important technique you need to learn is how to monitor your heart rate. I have been able to keep my body fat low for years because I am efficient, not because I know it all.
Here is what I mean:
Low Body Fat Technique #2: Work your heart smarter not harder!
One of the most neglected parts of any workout program is not making the most out of your cardiovascular training time. Cardiovascular training is when you exercise your heart at a certain level of effort. Something is better than nothing, but just going through the motions just to say you?ve done it, is not working smart.
One of the most important and effective things you can do to lower your body fat is to monitor your heart rate as you exercise. How do you do that and what is the right rate for you?
You do that by taking your heart rate during your workout. While performing your cardiovascular workout begin by taking your pulse at the eight minute mark and then in ten minute increments there after.
How you determine your heart rate is to complete the heart rate zone formula:
220-age x 60-85 % - Target heart rate zone.
The simplest way to do this is to determine your heart rate zone top number and bottom number. Second divide both numbers by six. This will give you to small numbers to make sure you strive for in a ten second period. If you are too low, beef it up. If you are too high, you will burn muscle. Stay in the zone and you will be surprised how the body fat will start coming off.
But, you have to push yourself. You can not slack off on this. Just getting on the treadmill for a nice little stroll only satisfies the mind! and not the body. Do not neglect this part of your workouts. It could make or break your success.
The goal is to maintain your heart rate in the zone for 20 to 40 minutes.

Muscle Building Workout Poundages Are You Lifting Enough Weight?
We all know that in order to make progress with your weight training, whether it's building muscle mass, or slimming down and building a long, lean, athletic body, you need to constantly challenge your body and the easiest measurable way to do this is to lift 'heavy' and constantly increase your workout poundages. But what's 'heavy'?
Many people wonder if the weights they are using are heavy enough. First, it's important to realize that heavy is a relaitve concept and many factors come into play - your overall genetic makeup being the most important.
But even more specific factors come into play, such as rib cage size, length of the forearms, etc.
Somebody with long arms will have a difficult time becoming a great bench presser. But someone with shorter arms and a natural barrel chest physique, has a great chance to be a top bench presser.
This is why you sometimes see bigger bodybuilders who can't lift as much as people that are smaller, muscle-wise than they are. So, whether or not you are lifting heavy, you should only take into consideration what you were lifting before and what you are lifting now. Your progress is the most important thing, not where you started or where you end up.
Of course, everyone wants a challenge and a goal to shoot for when it comes to their workout poundages so here are some goals and poundages you can go after. Serious bodybuilders will probably go well beyond these numbers but for most people they are quite good.
Bench Press
Bodyweight is a good goal here, as long as it's for at least 5 or more reps. Sets of five reps or more with 130 to 150 percent of bodyweight is respectable for anyone involved in weight training programs.
Squats
Working out with bodyweight for sets of five or more reps is respectable for all-round conditioning. However, if you really want to make gains a nd build muscle, you will want to work up to 150 percent of your bodyweight for sets of five to eight reps. If yo! u'really serious, you'll shoot for 175 percent.
Keep in mind, I am talking about full squats here. If you're serious about making big muscle mass gains with your weight training, you need to do squats.
Deadlifts
150 percent of bodyweight for sets of five to six reps. Most serious trainees shoot for 200 percent of bodyweight as a reasonable goal on the regular deadlift, in time.
For stiff-legged deadlifts, shoot for between bodyweight and 125 percent of bodyweight for weightlifting sets in the 6 to 10 rep range. You may even get up to 150 percent if this is a good exercise for you.
One Arm Dumbbell Rows
Eventually you should be using 50 percent of your bodyweight in this movement. Your back is your strongest muscle and you'll only achieve real results with real weights.
Seated Shoulder Presses
You'll want to work up to 65 to 70 percent of your bodyweight in this weightlifting exercise for three to five sets of five to eight reps. If you use dumbbells, they should total 60 to 65 percent of you bodyweight. The lesser number is due to the fact that you have to control the dumbbells more than a barbell.
Barbell Curls
Work up to 50 to 60 percent of you bodyweight for sets of five to eight reps. It should be the same for dumbbells, since there is no extra balancing neccssary.
Working up to these weights in these bodybuilging exercises will give you quite a respectable level of strength and muscle mass(if you get your nutrition right, as well).
Keep in mind that a weight training program is the best way to build muscle mass but it's also the best way to lose fat, completely change the shape of your body, and keep the fat off. Weight lifting is much more effective for fat loss than aerobics or dieting alone.
Some of these poundages may be very easy for you, while others are very difficult, depending on all the factors mentioned above. If you really want to make progress in building muscle, the deadlift and squat poundage! s are th e one's you'll really want to hit or even surpass. Do that, and you'll be well on your way to the muscle mass you are looking to attain.

Things You Ought To Know First Before Undergoing Liposuction Surgery
According to the medical dictionary of Medline Plus, liposuction is the removal of excess body fat by suction with specialized surgical equipments, typically performed by a plastic surgeon.
With the removal of excess body fat, the body appearance improves and evens out distorted body parts. Breasts, buttocks, abdomen, and the face area are some of the most popular body parts that undergo liposuction.
Foremost reason why people resort to liposuction is for cosmetic reasons. They want to eradicate love handles, unsightly fat bulges, an abnormal chin line, etc.
Liposuction also helps improve sexual function by reducing fat deposits on the inner thighs, thus allowing easier access to the vagina.
Another reason for undergoing liposuction is body shaping that cannot be achieved by diet and/or exercise.
A note of caution, liposuction is not a cure for generalized obesity.
Liposuction is not as easy as just going to the doctor and telling him or her, I want a liposuction right now. People who want to have liposuction must meet certain criteria:
1) There should be a preliminary consultation. This includes history of the patient, a comprehensive physical examination, and a psychological health examination;
2) There should be a second consultation to give time for the patient to think over the planned liposuction surgery;
3) If the patient is married, the spouse's presence may be required during the consultation;
4) The patient should ask questions about liposuction, express the reasons for the consultation, and must feel satisfied with the answers to their questions;
5) The patient must fully understand the pre-operative liposuction preparations, the liposuction procedures, and the precise post-operative liposuction care to avoid lethal complications;
6) The patient must have realistic expectations. Liposuction enhances the body appearance and boost self-confidence but it will never result to a perfect body.
Because liposuction is a m! edical p rocedure, there are risks involved. Some of the complications that may happen upon having liposuction are:
* Fluid imbalance due to the removal of a lot of liquid during liposuction and/or injection of large amounts of liquid during liposuction which can result to shock, heart problems, or kidney problems.
* Infections happen after any surgery and some physicians prescribe an antibiotic to patients having liposuction so it is important to keep the wound clean. Infections may be life threatening such as necrotizing fasciitis (bacteria eating away the tissue) or the toxic shock syndrome caused by bacteria associated with surgery.
* Embolism occurs when tiny globules of fat trapped in the blood stream blocks the blood flow to the tissue. This may cause permanent disability. Signs of pulmonary embolism are shortness of breath or difficulty of breathing.
* Drug reactions or overdose from lidocaine is fatal. Lidocaine is a drug that numbs the skin and large doses of this is used during liposuction. The effects of lidocaine are lightheadedness, restlessness, drowsiness, slurred speech, muscle twitching, and convulsions. Overdose of this drug may cause the heart to stop which is naturally fatal.
* Burns caused by the ultrasound probe during ultrasound assisted liposuction.
* Visceral perforations or puncture wounds in the organs may require another surgery and can be fatal. During liposuction, the physician does not see where the probe (canula) is, so it is possible to harm internal organs.
* Skin death (skin necrosis) occurs when skin changes color and fall off. This may also cause infection.
* Paresthesias is an altered sensation at the site of liposuction. This may be in the form of increased sensitivity in the area or loss of feeling. Some cases of this are permanent.
* Swelling
* Death
Given that the surgery had no major complications, recovery from liposuction can still be difficult.
The liposuctioned area appears larger than before be! cause of swelling.
Special compression garments must be worn for two to three weeks to reduce swelling, bleeding, and to help contour the new body. The patient starts to feel better after a week or two after liposuction.
Walking is recommended after liposuction to prevent blood clots forming in the legs. Finally, exercise and diet will help keep your new shape.

How To Gain Weight
Until I started following a routine to eat, my gains were minimal. Once I set my eating times to a specific time during the day along with a protein boost, I could see the gains immediately. This sample program is a quick way to get your protein WAY up and generally increase your food intake. But it doesn't require the traditional sit down 6+ a day to eat 30 chicken breasts and spend all day cooking. I've got a full-time job at a corporate office. Cooking isn't an option. Nor is eating 6+ times a day involving meals with Tupperware and the likes. I need food and I need it fast. Try this program on for size and notice the size you just might see.
Meal 1 - 7:00am
- 1 packet of a meal replacement with 16 ounces of skim milk
- 1 serving of whole grain cereal
- 1 cup of non/low-fat yogurt
- 1 piece of fruit
Meal 2 - 9:00am
- 1 serving of whey protein mixed in 10 ounces of water
- 1 large apple
Meal 3 -12:00pm
- 2 grilled chicken breasts
- 1 serving of brown rice
- 1 cup of low-fat yogurt
- 1 serving of whey protein
Meal 4 - 3:00pm
- 1 packet of a meal replacement with 16 ounces of water and 5-10 grams of L-Glutamine
- 1 large banana
- Pre-Workout
- 1 workout bar of your choice (preferably some carbs and 20+ grams of protein)
Meal 5 - 6:00pm (Post-workout)
- 1 serving of whey protein combined with 1 5gram serving of Creatine mixed in kool-aid. (This is an important meal and is designed for an insulin spike at just the right time to increase creatine and amino acid uptake by the muscle cells).
Meal 6 -7:00pm
- 8 to 10 ounces of a lean round or flank steak
- 1 serving of rice
- 1 medium baked potato
- 1 large green salad
Meal 7 - 10:00pm
- 1 packet ! of a mea l replacement with 16 ounces of skim milk
- 1 large banana
- 3 to 5 grams of L-Glutamine
And that's about it. Simple? You will be significantly increasing the protein uptake. Which means you should be increasing that water consumption as well. I'm not a fan of waking up at 1:00am to get more protein and therefore, I did not include anything beyond 10:00pm. I've noticed some significant gains from this program. My workouts were hardcore but my nutrition was lacking. By putting my eating times to a set schedule, I felt better during the day and was even more ready to tackle that workout later in the day.
Good luck,

Acne And Stress
Stress - Since your skin in your largest organ, how you live can sure influence how healthy your skin is. And stress, not necessarily bad stress, but rather certain external and internal stressors, factor into this health equation. So let's take a look at how to handle these stressors with regards to acne prevention.
External Stressors- A goal of acne prevention would be to keep your skin pores clear from clogging and becoming infected and irritated, resulting in blemishes and inflammation. So you need to take a look at your external environment throughout the day for factors that could trigger skin pore clogging. Here are some examples of what to look for: grease, oils and sun, like being around open fryers in kitchen areas, or around machine oil and grease in workshops or factories, or out in the sun all day on a construction jobsite. Too much oil, grease or sun on the skin can clog pores and trigger acne and other skin irritations.
Minimize contact by wearing long sleeves and other protective wear and gear and discussing further options with your dermatologist or healthcare provider. With regards to being out in the sun, note that a small amount of sun each day can be fine and healthy. However, extended periods can trigger the sebaceous glands to create more oil as your skin dries out. At the same time, the dried out skin needs to be cast off or shed at a faster rate than normal. The resulting extra oils and dead skin make a wonderful environment for pore clogging. So here, too, use protective clothing for outdoor activities and apply sunscreen; oil-free products are best for acne-prone people, and those with a minimum protection of SPF 15 and both UVA and UVB protection.
Internal Stressors - Internal stressors like anxiety, fear, low self-esteem, depression and a variety of other internalized emotions, can trigger chemical reactions inside your body that can result in acne flare-ups and other skin irritations. What happens is that these emotions can set your adrenal glands to wor! k creati ng more cortisol, the substance that in turn causes your sebaceous glands to produce increased amounts of sebum oil, excessive amounts of which can be blocked in pores. Same old story: extra oil + extra dead skin cells = blocked pores, triggering acne flare-ups. With internal stressors, though, the results are usually inflamed papules or small, solid inflammations (or skin elevations that do not contain pus), instead of whiteheads or blackheads.
To combat internal stressors and prevent acne problems, here are some suggestions. Get plenty of rest and sleep a recommended average of eight hours per night. Try to maintain regular hours each day, regardless of which shift your work. Some say to focus on reducing SWAT: reduce your stress, worry, anxiety and tension, so journal a little each day mentioning any SWAT stressors you've felt. And focus on those that may seem overwhelming or to be taking too long to end, seeking help from others or other resources as needed for stress management. Check with your dietician or healthcare provider to establish and follow a regular well-balanced dietary and exercise plan of action to keep your body healthy on the inside and outside. Keep a check list of Things that Calm You handy for stressful times, like reading a book, resting, listening to music, taking a walk, going out for an ice cream cone, etc.

Should You Train Before Bedtime?
A Japanese study found that if you exercise at night you will be less tired the next day. Apparently it increases testosterone levels.
Whether this is the case or not I'm not sure. However, I do know that in my own (and other peoples) experiences it depends on what type of exercise you do.
For those of you who have trained physically hard in the couple of hours before bed and then ingested the necessary food afterwards you may well have found it hard to drop off for a good nights sleep.
I know, in the past, this was the case for me.
Think about it. It stands to reason!
You perform hard physical training, get your body into an 'alive' state with blood pumping and sweat pouring, and then expect it to quickly shut down and allow you those precious eight hours sleep a night!
NOT likely!
If this sounds like you, or you would simply like a way to unwind before bed while improving internal health, then keep reading.
All that is required from you is an acceptance of a more holistic approach to exercise. Yes, physical training where you sweat and work hard certainly has its place, but a knowledge and application of other less movement based training protocols is of immense value if good health is your objective.
What type of exercise am I referring to? Well, for a start, one that calms and centres the mind and focuses on slow, relaxed, breathing.
If you desire (and need) more quality sleep then doing jumping jacks and pumping iron is not the answer!
Joking aside, here is an easy to access relaxation exercise you can use before bed to ensure you drift off into a restful slumber.
1. Lie on your back and focus on your breathing. Try and allow your mind to clear.
2. Establish your energy centre just below your belly button. Breathe into this point.
3. Focus on gentle full breathing.
4. If you find it hard to drift off due to worries, anger, sadness or any other emotion then try to focus on your energ! y NOT on the emotion.
5. Try to calm your energy down by addressing your breathing. If you focus on what is bothering you it only serves to bring more attention to it.
6. Tell yourself you will wake up energised.
7. Continue your gentle, unforced, relaxing breathing until you drift off.
Try this type of internal approach to getting better sleep each night for a week and feel the relaxing benefits for yourself!

Aspirin Can Cause Hyponatremia
Several recent studies how that aspirin, Indocin, Celebrex and other arthritis pain medicines may cause some cases of hyponatremia, a condition that can kill novice athletes in ultra long endurance events. These medications, often taken to relieve muscle and joint pain, cause the body to retain fluid during exercise (Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, May, 2005).
For many years, exercise physiologists have told athletes in endurance events to take in fluids frequently during events lasting more than an hour. However, on rare occasions, athletes have died of hyponatremia in these endurance events. Hyponatremia is caused by taking in too much fluid; it is not caused by excessive loss of salt in your sweat. The extra fluid expands blood volume and dilutes blood salt levels, which forces fluid to enter and swell the brain, causing nausea and vomiting, weakness, headache, and extreme tiredness. Since these same symptoms can be caused by dehydration alone, the only way to diagnose hyponatremia is with blood tests. As blood salt levels drop even lower, the person becomes confused, develops seizures and falls unconscious.
How can you know how much fluid you should drink? Experts do not agree because thirst is a late sign of dehydration. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends three to six cups of fluid per hour. For a person who is not exercising near his maximum, this could be too much. The person who is out of shape, exhausted, or exercising significantly below his capacity probably should take in only two to three cups per hour. Above all, do not take aspirin or any arthritis pain medicines before you compete in events taking more than an hour.

Lung Cancer 101 What You Need to Know About
Accounting about for 14% of all cancers and 28% of all cancer deaths, Lung Cancer is now the major cause of deaths (of both men and women) in the United States apart from being the most prevalent species of cancer. Lung Cancer is different from benign cancer tumours (which do not generally spread to other parts of the body affecting only the part which is hit by it) as Lung Cancer (having the ability to start anywhere in the respiratory systems or lungs) CAN spread to different organs of the body.

Never Keep Your Wallet in Your Back Pocket!
As doctors of chiropractic and applied kinesiologist, we have seen thousands of patients who come to us complaining of back pain and a frequent cause of their pain is their wallets. Let me explain?
The pelvis is the lower most structure of the spine. I describe the pelvis as the foundation of the house with the head neck and shoulders representing the second floor. Just imagine the far reaching affects a crooked foundation can have on a house. If your pelvis is not aligned properly it can easily affect your hips, low back and even your neck.
By wearing your wallet in your back pocket while sitting on it all day, the balance on your pelvis and low back can be affected. A slight change in the position of the pelvic bones will cause a stretching of tissues on one side of the body, while the opposite side is shortened and contracted. It doesn?t take long for these subtle changes to affect the body. If you sit on your wallet 8-10 hours a day eventually the body?s ability to reverse these changes is diminished and when you stand up the imbalance that was created by the wallet when you were sitting remains. Now, you are walking around with an imbalance in your pelvis, which in turn changes the way your entire spine and you whole body functions. Because the pelvis?s biomechanics must adapt to the change in balance, the rest of the body must compensate as well. Until this imbalance is corrected it will continue to wreak havoc in your body.

Exercise Fun
Do you consider exercise fun? Everyone wants to be fit and look good but what separates those that stick with it from the ones who call it quits within a month?
If you think of exercise as fun or an enjoyable experience you are more likely to make a commitment to make exercise a habit. People who exercise regularly also know the health benefits of being fit and that becomes a big motivating factor.
Exercise is what you perceive it to be and if you think of it as boring and a chore you won't stick with it. But if you consider exercise fun, you can come up with lots of creative ways to make it something you look forward to each day and it will become a habit.
Here are some things to consider to help get you started:
1. Choose activities you enjoy. (example: swimming, walking, dancing or aerobics classes)
2. Exercise with a friend, it is always more fun to have an exercise buddy.
3. Vary the activities. Walk one day and swim the next, it will help eliminate the boredom.
4. Make regular exercise fun by listening to music or even singing out loud.
Exercise comes in many forms. Dancing is a wonderful way to exercise. Tangos, waltzes, and foxtrots are all good forms of exercise and will help burn calories.
Take your children for a walk through the zoo or learn to play tennis. Take swimming classes or just go shopping with a friend. These are all good forms of exercise and will help get you moving. Remember the best exercise is something that you will continue to do.
You don't have to go to the gym and workout to get exercise. And don't think of exercise as boring and inconvenient. Enjoy fun activities and reap the benefits of a regular exercise routine.
Close your eyes and picture yourself looking great. Just knowing that exercise makes you feel better physically, emotionally and mentally should help to keep you motivated.
Exercise usually has a perpetual position at the bottom of your to-do list. You know you should do! it and you would be better off if you did it but some of us just hate to exercise.
Next time you find yourself in this position, turn things around and think of it as a fun way to look and feel healthier. Exercise fun is all a state of mind so smile, relax and reap the rewards.

How To Give A Manicure
This guide will give you the basic directions for nail care, however, it cannot provide the same direction and hands-on experience offered by a Professional School of Cosmetology.
SUPPLIES: 1 - Nail scissors
2 - Small tray, about the size of a soap dish
3 - Gentle dishwashing detergent or other skin softening, bubbly liquid (such as some bubble bath products)
4 - Warm water
5 - Two to three hand towels
6 - Moisturizer or Hand Lotion with Aloe Vera, Cocoa Butter or similar ingredient to condition skin
7 - Clear Base Coat Nail Polish
8 - Colored Nail Polish
9 - Top Coat Nail Polish
10 - Small lamp or other radiant source of light
11 ? Table or desk so that, when seated, your arms can easily extend across from the relaxed position of a comfortable chair
12 - Hair dryer or similar device (not required)
13 ? Cotton swabs
STEPS: 1 - Fill tray with warm water and sudsy liquid (the trick is to add water at just the right temperature so it will soften skin without being too hot to the touch)
2 - Place one hand in tray and let it soak for several minutes
3 - If you're giving someone else a manicure, you can use oil or moisturizer to massage one hand while the other one is soaking
4 - Remove soaking hand and pat dry with hand towel
5 - Place other hand in tray to soak for several minutes
6 - While the second hand is soaking, you should carefully begin trimming cuticles that form around the edges of the nail itself (NOTE: Pay close attention to what you're doing, so you don't cut too close and end up causing skin to bleed. If you take your time and trim slowly with tiny strokes, you should be fine.)
7 - If your timing is perfect, you will be finished cutting the cuticles on that hand before the first hand gets wrinkled from being in the warm water too long. (Tip: Don't try to hurry the cuticle trimming process to make your timing work. Instead try to remember to check on the soaking han! d half-w ay through the course of cutting cuticles. If the water is cold or the hand shows hints of wrinkling skin, that's your cue to stop the soaking operation and pat hand dry with hand towel, apply some lotion and go back to the trimming procedure.)
8 - When you have completed trimming cuticles on both hands, you should make sure all loose skin is removed from nail area. Begin to polish nails with clear base coat by applying a thin layer as smoothly and carefully as possible. Try to keep polish on nails only. If you accidentally apply too much or get extra polish on skin around nails, use a cotton swab dipped lightly in nail polish remover to correct your mistake.
9 - After applying base coat to both hands, choose polish color and repeat previous procedure beginning with the same hand you started with last time. Follow guidelines described above to produce best results.
10 - The next application will be a top coat to create a seal or protection for colored polish. Repeat previous steps to ensure success in this process. Remember less is better when it comes to nail polish. Thick layers lead to messy results.
11 - You have two choices to complete this process and make your manicure last.
(1) You can dry nails with a blow dryer or similar device set on slow speed at a moderate temperature. You should keep hands positioned under heat source for at least three minutes and then sit still, touch nothing, and wait for another minute or two to avoid smudges or smears that will ruin your efforts.
(2) You can skip the dryer process and sit still, touch nothing and wait for at least five minutes to creating lasting results that will make your manicured nails look their best.

Does Exercise Eventually Get Rid of Cellulite or Not?
Cellulite can make a lot of people cringe as they look at the condition of their body when cellulite has taken hold. Many people will ask does exercise eventually get rid of cellulite? The answer to that could be no or yes as it all depends on the situation and the exercises that are being performed to be honest. There is no one that can say for sure that you will get rid of cellulite in any one way or another. That is because everyone has a different body that will react in a different way then others. That is why so much of the world revolves around individual needs rather than a mass inclusion factor.
The people who know the exercise world best know that each person is different and they have to have a specifically crafted regimen of exercise to make sure that they are getting the most out of it. This is due to the fact that different exercises do different things and you would not want to be doing abdominal exercises for a thigh problem. So the issue of does exercise eventually get rid of cellulite is not really an issue unless you know what you are doing and why. So you would have to go about this kind of thing a certain way, like cutting out the foods that cause cellulite in the first place. Most people do not think of things like this when they are trying to lose the cellulite that they have but it is very important to say the least.
If you want to know does exercise eventually get rid of cellulite then you need to take a look at the fact that cellulite requires some specific things that not every body is doing these days. In the early days of research it was thought the cellulite was actually a foreign substance in the body and could be treated with medication but that is just no true to say the least. Thankfully that school thinking went out and people started to realize that they needed to do more than just take a magic pill. So there you have the answer to does exercise eventually get rid of cellulite? You need to do many things and exercise is just one of the many. ! A healt hy diet that cuts out the foods that cause cellulite is another good idea.

Male Hair Loss
Hair loss is more common among men than it is women. Studies show that most male baldness occurs by an increased sensitivity to androgens (male sex hormones). As a result of this sensitivity, hair loss occurs. This can be passed down through genetics.
Don?t get depressed! Nowadays bald men are very fashionable. Clean-shaven heads fill billboards, magazine advertisements, and commercial air-time. Women are attracted to smooth men. Baldness, which was once frowned upon and thought to be undesirable, is now very stylish!
Nevertheless, men who are experiencing baldness might find themselves asking ?What is the cause of my hair loss?? Well, your androgens (which circulate in your blood) cause your hair follicles to shrink. Eventually, these follicles become so small that hair can not grow through them. Although the hair follicles are still alive, they can not perform their function. Hence, hair growth stops.
Young men in their twenties and thirties can become devastated at the first signs of male hair loss. Generally there?s a typical pattern that occurs gradually. First, the hair line recedes, secondly the hair on the top of the crown begins to gradually thin. Eventually these ?thinning? areas will become bald. Finally, the bald areas will meet and form a U-shape on the crown. The hair that remains will be found on the sides of the head and it is often finer than it used to be.
The question arises, can hair-loss be prevented? Unfortunately for men, hair loss is genetically pre-determined. Baldness can be passed on from your parents and/or grandparents. Although a physician may be able to provide different medical treatments, you must be careful of the side effects. Side effects differ for each person. While some men may experience little to no side effects, others may experience a drastic change in their appearance and sexual drive.
Remember, baldness is a natural act. It is not a disease or disorder. You must realize that the re-growth of lost hair is very unnatural and can ! end up b eing very costly. You may or may not be happy with the final results.

Protein Principles for Diabetes
Dietary considerations can present a Hobson?s choice in diabetes. Even when the intake is nutritious, assimilating it can be another matter. Then there is the problem of progression of diabetic complications if one ends up with excess glucose or fat in the system. Excess carbohydrates in a meal, and the resulting uncontrolled blood sugar levels can be detrimental to any number of tissues, from the lens of the eye, to the neurons, small blood vessels and the kidneys. Fat is also a problem with increase incidences of atherosclerosis, large vessel disease and cardiac complications. What, then is the appropriate macronutrient for the diabetic population? Enough medical literature exists to suggest that in diabetes, proteins are probably the best bet.
Proteins are the natural choice of the body when faced with diabetes. In uncontrolled diabetes, muscle protein is broken down into amino acids to be converted into glucose by the liver. If left to fend for itself, this can create a commotion within the body. Since proteins have to supply enough energy to substitute for carbohydrates, proteins are broken down faster than they are made. The body ends up with a protein deficit, a situation with subtle, yet far-reaching effects on normal body functions. Importantly, for diabetics, a protein deficit has been shown to impair resistance to infections (Ganong WF). Replenishing the depleting protein stores is a vital requirement of all diabetic diets.
Importance of proteins in a diabetic has been well documented. The American Associations of Clinical Endocrinologists have made it clear that not much evidence exists to indicate that the patients with diabetes need to reduce their intake of dietary proteins. The AACE recommends that 10-20% of the calorie intake in diabetes should come from proteins (AACE Diabetes Guidelines). It is in fact believed that this is one nutrient that does not increase blood glucose levels in both diabetics and healthy subjects (Gannon et al).
Nutrition therapy for diabetes ! has prog ressed from prevention of obesity or weight gain to improving insulin?s effectiveness and contributing to improved metabolic control (Franz MJ). In this new role, a high protein diet (30% of total food energy) forms a very pertinent part of nutrition therapy. One of the most important causes for type II diabetes is obesity. Excess body fat raises insulin resistance and higher levels of insulin are required to bring down blood sugars as the weight increases (Ganong WF). Another problem with excess fat is the clogging of arteries with atherosclerotic plaques that is responsible for a wide range of diabetic complications. Any mechanism that reduces body fat decreases insulin resistance and improves blood glucose control. Parker et al have also shown that a high protein diet decreased abdominal and total fat mass in women with type II diabetes. Other studies by Gannon et al. and Nuttall et al have verified that blood glucose levels and glycosylated hemoglobin (a marker of long term diabetic control) reduce after 5 weeks on a diet containing 30% of the total food energy in the form of proteins and low carbohydrate content. It is speculated that a high protein diet has a favorable effect in diabetes due to the ability of proteins and amino acids to stimulate insulin release from the pancreas. Thus, a high protein diet is not only safe in diabetes, but can also be therapeutic, resulting in improved glycemic control, and decreased risk of complications related to diabetes.
The benefits of a high protein diet do not end here. Individual protein components of such a diet, when aptly chosen, can have other advantages as well. Dietary supplements containing proteins like whey and casein come highly recommended. Casein is a milk protein and has the ability to form a gel or clot in the stomach. The ability to form this clot makes it very efficient in nutrient supply. The clot is able to provide a sustained, slow release of amino acids into the blood stream, sometimes lasting for several hours (Boirie et al. 1997! ). A slo w sustained release of nutrients matches well with the limited amount of insulin that can be produced by the pancreas in diabetes. A protein supplement containing casein can thus increase the amount of energy assimilated from every meal and, at the same time, reduce the need for pharmacological interventions to control blood sugar.
Whey proteins and caseins also contain ?casokinins? and ?lactokinins?, (FitzGerald) which have been found to decrease both systolic and diastolic blood pressure in hypertensive humans (Seppo). In addition, whey protein forms bioactive amine in the gut that promotes immunity. Whey protein contains an ample supply of the amino acid cysteine. Cysteine appears to enhance glutathione levels, which has been shown to have strong antioxidant properties -- antioxidants mop up free radicals that induce cell death and play a role in aging.
Thus, development of a protein supplement containing casein and whey can provide an apt high protein diet and its health benefits to individuals suffering from diabetes, obesity and hypercholesterolemia.

Uncover An Effective 3 Day Per Week Weight Training Program
There are so many different ideas on weight training and bodybuilding that it is very difficult to know what to do. This includes various split routines. Most people don't understand how splitting up your workouts can dramatically reduce or increase your training results.
Usually one of two things happen. Some people develop the 'paralysis by analysis' syndrome and end up either never getting started with a program or they quit soon after starting.
On the flip side, many people go from one weight lifting routine to another without any rhyme or reason as to why they have chosen a specific weight training program. And they bounce around so quickly, changing their lifting program so often, that they never stick with a routine long enough to know if it's effective or not.
Many different programs, such as the 3 day training split, can be very effective. The key is to incorporate the fundamentals of weight training into the routines. This will allow you to make the progress that you want. Below, you'll find descriptions of these fundamentals. Here's an example of one aspect of this.
Let's say you've chosen to workout according to a 3 day split. You workout three days per week, training each body part once per week. After a few weeks, you change to a full body workout and you are still training three times per week. Now you are training each body part three times per week.
All things being equal, you will need to drastically reduce the volume of your routine. When you were using one of the 3 day split routines, you might have been doing 8 work sets for your chest, because you were only working chest once per week. Now you are currently working chest three times per week and working your entire body in that same workout. So, in order to keep making progress and not overtrain, you may only do 2 sets for your chest. Likewise, you would reduce the number of sets for all your other body parts as well.
Here is one of my favorite 3 day split routines
Three! Times P er Week
Workout 1 (Monday and Friday)
Squats - 1 x 20
Calf Raises 1 x 15 - 20
Seated Calf Raises 1 x 12 - 15
Close Grip Pulldowns (X-Reps) 1 x 8 ? 12
DB Rows (X-Reps) 1 x 8 ? 12
DB Pullovers 1 x 8 ? 12
Decline Bench Press (X-Reps) 2 x 8 ? 12
DB Flyes 1 x 8 ? 12
Dips (X ? Reps)1 x 12 ? 15
DB Upright Rows (X-Reps) 1 x 8 ? 12
Incline Laterals 1 x 8 - 12
DB Lateral Raises 1 x 8 - 12
Workout 2 (Wednesday)
Tricep Pushdowns (X-Reps) 1 x 8 ? 12
Incline DB Curls (X-Reps) 1 x 8 ? 12
DB Overhead Extensions (Drop Set) 1 x 8 ? 12 (6)
DB Concentration Curls (Drop Set) 1 x 8 ? 12 (6)
Tricep Kickbacks 1 x 8 -12
Wall BB Curls 1 x 8 ? 12
This routine involves working the legs, chest, back, and shoulders twice per week and working the arms once per week by themselves.
In order to design an effective program or split routine, it's important to understand the fundamentals of weight lifting. You can read about these training fundametals at http://www.buildleanmuscle.com/weight-lifting-programs.html

8 Steps for Coping with and Healing Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
Attention deficit disorder is a serious disorder and it is not going away. It causes depression, inattentiveness, relationship and behavorial problems, deviant behavior (crime), can lead to drug abuse, alcoholism and even suicide. To better understand this disorder and correct it there are 8 steps we must follow:
1. Education. ADD can manifest itself in several different ways all depending upon the areas of the brain affected. Basically, ADD is caused by abnormalities in the cortex region of the brain. These abnormalities are mostly genetic, but can also result from head trauma. The afflicted area is underdeveloped slightly - not enough to cause autism or retardation. This underdeveloped area in the cortex directly affects attention span, energy (lethargy), even quality of life. This is an actual confirmable medical condition.
2. Get medical help. Do not wait. ADD can rob the sufferer of quality of life. Go to a doctor that specializes in conditiond like ADD. Upon confirming the diagnosis for ADD they will among other things refer you to support groups. This is important as ADD can be very trying on a family. They will also determine if medication like Ridalin and Adderall are necessary.
3. Nutrition. Eat a well balanced diet. Take multi-vitamins and drink plenty of water. Multi-vitamins are a necessity as many of our foods are lacking in nutritional value. Recent research has shown that omega-3 fatty acids (like those found in salmon) not only promote a healthy heart, but also increase brain functioning and health. Many people in Okinawa on a diet compromising mostly rice and fish lived to be 100+ years old and maintained full mental acuity. They were found to have much lower incidences of mental diseases and conditions including ADD. Take a multivitamin, eat well balanced meals, and take omega-3 supplements.
4. Hydration. The brain is 85% water and when the water intake is insufficient the brain will become dehydrated and sluggish. During dehydration the ! neurons and synapses in the brain cannot transfer important chemicals and impulses for memory, thought and cognition. Proper hydration is even more important in ADD sufferers as they have underdeveloped lobes of the cortex that are more sensatized to the effects of dehydration. It is generally accepted that 8-10 glasses of water per day is warranted for proper mental functioning and will help with ADD sufferers as the symptoms of ADD will worsen due to dehydration.
5. Plan. Plan your day. ADD sufferers tend to be the biggest procrastinators. They can't focus as well and tend to put things off. Use a day planner and make lists, checking off tasks as they are completed. This will help alleviate some of the stress and anxiety that surrounds ADD.
6. Realize. Realize that ADD is not retardation. ADD does not mean someone is slow or unlearned. On the contrary, some of the smartest geniuses in history have had ADD. ADD makes it 10 times harder to stay focused on mental tasks than normal people, but when treated properly and taught how to cope with their condition ADD sufferers in numerous tests have been proven to be able to compete equally with non-sufferers and, in some cases, greatly out perform. There was a documented case of one individual whom, due to his undiagnosed ADD, never paid attention in elementary, middle, or high school. This individual ended up dropping out of highschool and was seen as a deviant. This individual then through proper diagnosis learned they had ADD, learned how to deal with it. Then took it upon themselves to learn what they didn't in the public school system. In two weeks they were able to obtain a real diploma, not a GED, and go to college. Whats even more amazing is that this dropout eventually ended up attending an Ivy league University! Just like underdeveloped muscles, the brain through much effort can be taught to overcompensate for underdeveloped areas.
7. Learn. Learn the art of memorization and studying. For ADD sufferers studying and mental ta! sks are 10 times harder to focus on. By learning memory techniques like associations, linking, lists, etc... and learning to become adept with them will make ADD easier. A great book to read is Harry Lorayne's Memory Book. It should be required learning for everyone in highschool. If the learning process can be made into a a game understanding, comprehension, and attention will all increase.
8. Meditation, controlled discipline and prayer. Stress and anxiety have been shown to play a large role with ADD sufferers. Both meditation and prayer have been shown to be very benefitial as they increase the attention span and have a dramatic soothing, calming effecton the sufferer. Discipline is very important with the ADD sufferer. Hidy Ochai, an internationally reknowned karate master states in his books that proper discipline in kids with ADD is essential to proper adult development. Karate is a very effective tool for the ADD sufferer. As it provides exercise, discipline, goal development and accomplisment, focus and self respect. ADD sufferers will do well to learn what meditation, controlled discipline, and prayer can offer them.
These eight steps are essential for the attainment of the proper quality of life for ADD sufferers. ADD can be treated and dealt with.

Natural Health Supplements
These days, you can?t be too concerned about your health. With possible toxins and lower nutritional values found in the foods we eat and the things we drink, many people have taken to buying supplements to help aid their health. Here?s a list of natural health supplements that can lead you to a more sound and healthy way of life:
Saint John?s Wort: Used for over 2,000 years, this supplement is a simple plant that can greatly aid depression. One of the most widely used natural health supplements, in a double-blind clinical study, Saint John?s Wort was proven to be equally as effective as pharmaceutical antidepressants, while giving less side-effects then their drug company counterpart.
Bee pollen: People take bee pollen in supplement form to help increase energy and vitality. In addition to offering several required vitamins and minerals, bee pollen acts as an enhancer to the immune system, as well as being a useful tool in cleansing the body of harmful toxins.
Athletes have been known to take bee pollen regularly to help enhance their endurance, stamina, recovery time from exercise, and more. It may also prove to be helpful in alleviating the pesky symptoms of hay fever. With all these possible uses of bee pollen, it?s amazing to find out that it can also be used to aid in weight loss. A substance in the pollen known as lecithin helps to stimulate your metabolism and flush fat from your system. This is another one of the most widely used natural health supplements.
Fish Oil: Harvested from the bodies of fish, fish oil is purified through a scientific process and turned into supplement form. Containing Omega-3 fatty acids, these natural health supplements can have numerous effects on your body for the better. For one, fish oil can aid in preventing the onset of Alzheimer?s disease. It has also been associated with better memory, clearer thinking, and health of the heart.
One of the best nutrients for brain health, this supplement?s effect on your body can be vast. Be sure! to only purchase pharmaceutical grade fish oil, however, since this is the process which removes the heavy metals found in fish due to pollutants. If your fish oil is not pharmaceutical grade, you run the risk of consuming such dangerous materials as mercury.

When Your Body Doesn't Cooperate With You
If you re-read the title of this article I think you will see that embedded in it are two interesting beliefs:
1. That you are not fully in control of your physical body and,
2. That you likely think that you and your body are two separate things.
I would like to suggest that belief 1) above is in fact the result of belief 2).
Let me explain.
We have become so seduced by religions, over the history of humanity, into thinking of ourselves in terms of a body and spirit that these two things have essentially become separated from each other.
I think you recognize that the YOU that wants your body to remain healthy and youthful often has ultimately very little control over the YOU that is your body and that ages and eventually loses it's functionality over time.
Does it feel natural or even desirable to you to be experiencing such a disconnection between these two YOU's?
Would YOU prefer to have these two YOU'S living in harmony together?
Isn't it interesting that they seem to have two different journeys?
In my work with individuals it has been my experience that this disconnection or misalignment is:
1. Not natural to us.
2. That it is the result of many faulty beliefs that we carry within us about who we are.
3. That these faulty beliefs can not only be exposed but they can be eradicated permanently from one's consciousness, and that by do so,
4. One can re-experience the alignment and harmonious unity of body and spirit as one entity, YOU.
Why would anyone wish to pursue this?
Well if you consider what it feels like for the two' YOU's to be on separate journeys I think there you will find the motivation to consider another option.
If you would like to re-establish the harmonious unity that you have likely been searching for throughout your life you may wish to visit the web link below and listen to the very special message I have posted for you there.

Ever Wondered Why You Need To Take Supplements?
As more health conscious consumers look for ways to improve their overall health, slow the aging process and increase their daily energy levels, vitamin supplements have quickly grown in popularity to fuel this newfound quest to be healthy. Supplements, as you probably already know, were designed to regulate your body's internal processes by evening out the nutritional levels in our bodies. To say that supplements have become increasingly popular to help in that endeavor would be an understatement. Even so, there are many consumers who routinely ask whether they need to take any supplements and if they do in fact start taking vitamins and supplements what the effects will be to their bodies.
As mentioned earlier probably the biggest concern right now when it comes to deciding on whether or not to take any supplements is why would you take them in the first place. One big reason for taking supplements would be to allow your body the opportunity to get the necessary nutrients it needs to function properly that it might not be getting from your diet or regular meals. One word of caution ? if you accidentally get to much of some supplements in your body they can actually start to cause damage instead of helping to improve your overall health and energy levels. For this reason it's important to monitor what types of foods you eat and the amount of nutrients and vitamins you're obtaining from them naturally.
There are some well-documented medical reasons for needing to take supplements. For some individuals due to their inability to draw the right nutrients from the food they eat at the level they needed there was a high propensity to become ill. Through the proper use of supplements they managed to right the chemical distortion taking place inside their bodies resulting in an improved ability to fight of illness and achieve a healthier lifestyle with the proper vitamins and minerals in their immune system.
A more publicized reason for needing to take supplements revolves around th! e aging process. Naturally as we grow older our bodies start to deplete at a faster rate. The more dramatic losses occur in our bone density and muscle mass. We also have a harder time pulling the needed nutrients out of our food. For that reason many supplements are taken to help with our body's transition during the aging process. We might not be able to stop it but we can slow it down enough to where the supplements allow our body the ability to use vitamins and supplements to balance out our nutritional needs.
There's no denying it, in order to stay in optimal health, slow the aging process and have an abundance of energy our bodies need a balanced diet full of nutrients, vitamins and minerals. As we get older supplements can help to augment some of the nutrients we lose as a result of the changes our bodies go through. One final word of advice would be to seek help from a professional such as a doctor or physician. A specialist would be able to tell you the correct amount of supplements your body would need in order to get the most benefits. Remember anytime you start a new supplement, to include vitamins and minerals, you will need to keep an eye on your blood pressure and also be on the alert for any other strange happenings that could take place as your body adjusts to the nutrients being added.

Spas 7 Ways to Enhance Your Spa Experience
Have you ever imagined being pampered in one of the world's top spas? Or have you been thinking about having that rejuvenating facial or relaxing massage at your local day spa? Whether you are going for a single treatment, a spa resort vacation or a complete body overhaul, you need to know how to get the best from your visit.
1. What do you want?
Don't choose a spa before first thinking about exactly what it is you want to take away from your experience. If your idea of heaven is a facial, manicure and pedicure, followed by some relaxation by the swimming pool, then you don't want to go for a spa that focuses on health and fitness regimes. Alternatively, if you are after that leaner, fitter physique, then be realistic about what you might have to do to achieve it. Work out what balance of relaxation, rejuvenation and complete overhaul would really suit you. For that truly unique and exotic experience, the location and the theme of its treatments may be more important to you than the health aspects.
2. Booking your treatments
If you are going for a spa mini-break, always book your treatments well in advance to make sure that the therapists will be available during your stay. For a half day or day spa ask if they have extended treatment times or a package of treatments to get more out of your visit. If you want the flexibility to choose what you want based on how you feel when you arrive, enquire whether you can reserve a block of time instead of a treatment. But be aware that the treatment you want may not be available at short notice.
3. Know what to expect
Before booking a treatment, make sure you get it properly explained to you - as descriptions may not always lead what you expect. Always ask for an experienced therapist and tell him/her exactly what you want from your treatment. If anything makes you uncomfortable, such as having a particular area of your body massaged, say so before the start of the treatment. You may also want to mak! e enquir ies about hygiene. Ask what measures the spa takes to avoid infection, for example for pedicures.
4. Anti-ageing and rejuvenation
Although high-quality pampering is a big factor in spas, get the most out of your experience by looking for rejuvenating health and anti-ageing treatments that really deliver results. Some spas offer a one-stop shop for your body maintenance. You'll find specialist advice from dermatologists offering skincare and cellulite treatments to nutritionists advising on weight loss programmes. Spas are also increasingly including medical and dental checks. If you lead a busy life, this is an ideal way to get a complete wellness check for men and women all under one roof.
5. Your own personal spa
You can also get the spa to come to your hotel or resort room. Resorts and hotels now offer spa suites with massage facilities adjoining your bedroom. After treatment from your personal therapist, you can relax in your own personal spa- bathroom.
6. Go in a group
If you're uncomfortable with going on you own, spa suites are a popular way to accommodate several people at the same time for treatments. Go with a group of girlfriends or book some treatments for your business associates. Something special to celebrate perhaps? You can purchase a spa gift certificate for someone and go in a group. Where family groups are welcomed, you can get your kids to learn healthy- eating habits, grooming skills and the importance of living a balanced life, while you are someplace else being pampered.
7. Take it home with you
To really benefit from your spa experience, look for ways in which you can take it home with you. From lessons on lifestyle, healthy eating and stress management to products that extend the experience long after your treatments have ended. Spa decor for the home is also very popular now. Recreate the spa experience in your own bathroom, shower or hot tub, with spa products such as bathrobes, towels and cand! les.
So indulge yourself in a spa experience. You know you deserve it ...

Stop Smoking The Benefits
In our previous article, we emphasised the negatives and difficulties of giving up smoking, but there are positives which far outweigh the bad things.
After that initial three months, when you will probably cough more than ever before, you will find that you will wake up in the morning with a clear chest and without that hacking cough so typical of the inveterate smoker.
When you're still struggling with the giving up process, it is a good idea to get all your curtains and soft furnishings laundered or dry cleaned to get rid of the smell of smoke. The cost of this will make you think twice about smoking in that room again and the added benefit is that when you walk into your lounge in the morning, you will be able to sniff the air and think Thank goodness, the whole place doesn't reek of smoke. You won't have filthy ashtrays to wash either.
Along the same lines, either wash or dry clean all your suits, trousers, skirts, jackets and jumpers because although you probably didn't realise it, they smell horrible. Give your colleagues a treat and don't go to work smelling of an old ashtray, even though you've actually stopped smoking. Soon enough, they will start to comment on the newfound freshness of the atmosphere and you will realise what it was like for them, smelling your second had smoke every day.
When you go to work, it will no longer be you who needs to be escorted outside for a cigarette when visiting another company's premises. It won't be you standing outside your own office block having a quick puff and it won't be you about whom your colleagues complain when you take a cigarette break, although no one else gets to leave their desk at that time.
When you go out for a social occasion, particularly at someone's home, you won't be the lone smoker attracting disapproving looks. It will no longer be you asking your hostess if she minds you smoking and receiving a refusal and it won't be you standing outside on your own having a solitary puff, while the others ea! t, drink and make merry. Social alienation ends here!
The chances of suffering from lung cancer, breast cancer and heart disease will decrease with every month that you don't smoke and eventually, your likelihood of contracting any of those will be back where it was before you ever smoked.
When you play tennis, squash or football with your friends or at your club, you will suddenly find that you no longer puff and pant when you have to run one width of the court. Your opponents will realise that they can't be careless with the ball and rely on your lack of fitness any more, in order to win the point or score that goal. You will actually feel better after exercise, not worse.
Last of all, you will have more spare money than you know what to do with. In the UK a packet of cigarettes costs approximately ?5 at the time of writing (more than $9 US and over 7 Euros), so if you were a twenty a day person, you were spending ?1,825 a year on cigarettes, probably more. That's a lot of money and it might serve as further encouragement to stick with your resolution, to calculate at the end of each week, how much money you've saved so far. You could even open up a separate savings account and put the money in it with a view to taking a nice holiday or revamping your kitchen.
No matter how hard it may be to stop smoking, be assured that the benefits far outweigh the pain.

Obesity a Major Problem
Obesity is a major problem with it affecting children as well as adults. Obesity is when there is too much stored in the body's fatty tissues. When this excess increases, there is a corresponding increase to other medical risk as well. Some of these medical risks have the possibility to be life threatening.
The severity of obesity is measured through body mass index (BMI). The BMI is calculated by dividing the person's weight by the square of their height. (This measurement is done in metric.) The value is separated into ranges which would represent their weight classification from underweight to severely obese.
The cause of overweight conditions is when the energy intake from foods in greater than what the body needs. The excess is turned into fat cells and stored in the body. The amount of excess energy intake is very small but over time can add up to cause the overweight condition. The factors can range from the person's diet to eating disorders to mental stress among others as well. There are some statistical factors showing a higher incidence of obesity with women that have married into lower economic status than women that married into higher economic status.
The best results in reducing excess weight has been in controlling diet and a moderate exercise program. Small drops in weight have created lower health risks for the person. Most dieters that achieve greater weight loss tend to regain the weight they lost within the next several years. Other methods of weight loss include drug therapy and surgery. Both of these come with risk of complications and mortality risks as well.
In many cultures, obesity represents attractiveness or wealth. This is represented in some of their art work. Someone that I talked with once commented that they were doing work overseas for their embassy. They threw a party and invited several guests. One of their guests commented to them that everyone thought they were very wealthy because they put more than one slice of meat on t! heir san dwiches. Other people in foreign lands receive comments of their apparent wealth because they are over weight. When asked about the comment, the reply is that people of that country could not have excessive weight unless they were wealthy because they could not buy sufficient food to be overweight.
In the last 20 years, the obesity problems in the United States has become a very serious problem. Obesity among adults has doubled and among children has tripled. Children under 19 years of age have an incidence of obesity of just under 20%. In adults, the rate is just over 32%. The recent increases in the obesity rates has public health concerns. A quick look at the environmental issues related to this would reveal some interesting problems with activity levels in addition to marketing of foods that lead to obesity. There are so many other factors that can effect this increase in rate. The change of job types to more desk jobs and less physically demanding jobs adds to these factors. There has been a decrease in walking since you can drive everywhere. The fast food industry has tremendously increased during this time as well.
The bottom line is going to be people taking personal responsibility for controlling their weight problems, exercise programs and general health concerns.

100 Million Dollars A Day
That is the amount of money that drug makers make from anti-depresents every single day. The sad thing is that it's money wasted and poorly spent. Ironically, the more drugs someone takes the more depressed and dependent they become on drugs that don't solve their problems. People don't get depressed just because. They get depressed because they don't have a strong network of family and friends to catch them when they fall. If only family and friends were more aware of the seriousness of depression, they could end the terrible downward cycle when someone they care about becomes depressed. This can come in the form of offering them a free place to live if they have lost their job and cannot afford to pay their rent. It's very sad that people think they are helping someone by giving them tough love and not offering real support for their real physical needs. Americans are feed lies through all too popular TV programs like Dr. Phil, where the the downtrodden are humiliated all for the sake of entertainment and higher TV ratings. That's what most people like to do to our mentally ill, make fun of them and get a good laugh out of them. The sad thing is that these people have never truly suffered from depression or unfortunate events that lead them into a hole that they feel they can't get out of.
The unfortunate thing is that there are several publically traded drug companies that feel that they have a duty to produce results for their share holders. Money is the number one priority rather than helping the sick, lame, and poor. The drugs that these companies make are very cheap to make and ineffective. You would think that drug companies wouldn't be able to sell a drug that is ineffective. But, think again. If drug companies produce drugs that are cheap and effective, and it cures people from illnesses like depression instantly they loose customers. It's much more profitable for drug companies to produce cheap drugs that they claim need to be taken over several months time before the! y take e ffect. This is just enough time for the drug to render the innocent sick person incompasitated, poor, and more desperate to try an alternative drug with the false hope that it might work after several more months of use. The other thing that makes it easy for drug companies to sell ineffective drugs is the massive advertising campaigns that they spend their money on. Who can turn on the TV for any length of time and not be bombarded by commercials from drug companies and their false hope?
If you truly care as I do about the well being of anyone you know who is suffering from depression, help them. Please help them. It can be the most rewarding experience to help someone who is truly in need with true help. Don't simply turn away and tell them they need to take a pill. That's not helping them, that's pro-longing their problems and just making them worse. It's a fact that the rate of suicide increases dramatically once someone starts taking anti-depression drugs. Help your family and friends with a place to live while they get back on their feet. One thing that is proven to help depressed people is for them to go to bed early and get a long nights sleep. Many people who suffer from depression also suffer from insomnia. Unfortunately, you don't see advice like this on TV commercials because noone can profit from telling you to go to bed early and get a long nights sleep. Now, please don't expect your sick friend to get well right away. It can take time - weeks, months, even years. Do whatever it takes to get your friend better, but don't do what the media wants you to do. Be patient, loving, and caring. Don't give them poison pills, don't give them tough love, and don't refer them to a doctor who has stock in drug companies.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed u! p, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
We're Too Fat!
Americans are too fat! And we're getting fatter!
Does the headline shock you? Does it make you angry? Well it should.
We're being lied to, manipulated and marketed literally to death. And very few of us are investing the time or the energy to learn why it's happening and how to resolve the issue.
Not only that we're hiding from the problem. We convince ourselves that yeah, I'm overweight, but I'm healthy.
That my friends is an illusion.
An Associated Press article from our local newspaper on January 11th, details a study done by Northwestern University of 17,643 patients over 3 decades. The study found that being overweight in mid-life substantially increased the risk of dying from heart disease later- even in people who began the study with healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
The takeaway from the study is that middle aged people who are overweight, but have normal blood pressure and cholesterol levels are kidding themselves if they think their health is just fine.
I also read an article in our local paper that said over 2 in 5 teenagers is unable to pass a low level physical fitness test.
What that tells me is the problem is getting worse and at a younger age.
My only question is when is enough, enough?? When is the average American going to accept the fact that he or she is responsible for their own health and wellness?
I read in a book by Dr. Paul Zane Pilzer that obesity in America is an economic problem. He states that only in western countries are poor people fat.
There are probably numerous reasons for this but I attribute it to two things;
1. Lower income families are more reliant on high fat, high sodium processed foods.
2. Lower income families are less likely to invest time and money into education on things like nutrition, exercise and fitness.
That being said, what about the great middle class? Folks in this category have options. They have at least some disposable income, they have access to t! he infor mation, and most if not all have the education to read and understand it. The question is then do they have the commitment?
In beginning my on-line company I have taken numerous courses, and several have been in copy writing. Copy writing is learning to write ad's to sell my products and services. The thing that I've heard over and over is people will not spend one dime on prevention but they will gladly spend money on a cure. That just seems backwards to me.
This is what the $35 billion dollar diet industry has learned and why the continue to offer miracle cures for obesity, fitness, and wellness.
How many ad's have you seen in recent years that end with the statement, It's EASY, you'll love it? They sell things that way because that's what we want to hear. If it was easy and if the miracle cures worked obesity would not have increased by 20% over the last ten years.
We all owe it to ourselves and to our loved ones to be the best we can be. To do that we must take the time and make the commitment to learn what works and what doesn't in the areas of fitness and weight control.
We all make choices each and every day. The choices we make today in regards to health and wellness can impact us for years to come. We're living longer today, but the question is what are you doing to insure your quality of life?
People form habits, and habits form futures. What future are you forming?

Important Information on Diabetes You Should Know
There are approximately 14 million people in the United States that have been diagnosed with diabetes. Unfortunately, it is also estimated that another 6 million people have the disease, but have not yet been diagnosed. These are the people that need accurate information on diabetes to be sure that they visit their health care provider right away if they notice symptoms.
While looking for information on diabetes, your search will reveal that Type 2 diabetes is the most common type of diabetes and is often found among the aging population. Type 2 differs from Type 1 in that Type 2 diabetes patients do produce insulin, but for some reason the cells ignore its presence. This results in a build up of glucose in the body, which can lead to blindness, heart disease and kidney damage to name a few of the complications that are associated with Type 2 diabetes.
While looking for information on diabetes it is important to find information on the complications that accompany the disease as well. While diabetes is a treatable illness, it does have some complications that should not be ignored. If you notice any of these issues, it is important to see your doctor immediately. Some of the issues associated with diabetes include an increase in periodontal disease, sexual dysfunction among men and women, an increase in blood pressure and nerve damage. This is a small list of the complications that are common with diabetes; your physician will be able to provide a more complete list.
The two most common types of diabetes are Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 is a direct result of the body's failure to properly manufacture the insulin that it needs. Insulin is a hormone that allows glucose inside cells to fuel them. While being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes is serious, it is defiantly an illness that can be lived with and controlled. The information on diabetes will reveal that Type 1 diabetes is controlled by insulin injections.
When looking for information on diabetes, there are three types to learn ! about. O ne of the best places to find the information you need about type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes is from your doctor. However, another good way to find this information is on the internet. When you are looking up information on diabetes online, it is important to be sure that you are getting it from a reputable source. The government has several websites that has the kind of accurate information on diabetes that you need.
John Mancini has been writing about Diabetes online and offline for a long time. Visit http://diabetics-net.info or http://stop-diabetes.net to read more about matters like diabetes supply and diabetes 2.
Genital Warts How Did I Get It? How Can I Treat Genital Warts Gently and Effectively?...and More
Treatment for Genital Warts
While there are many treatments available for Genital Warts, it is worth noting that Genital warts are soft growths on the genitals. It is a sexually trasmitted disease, and one of the more common and easily transmitted of the STDs... Of the more than 100 types of Genital Warts, 30 are sexually transmitted, and you may not even know you have it....
Other names for this condition include Human papilloma virus (HPV), Venereal warts, Penile warts, Condylomata acuminata and Condyloma.
The Genital Warts virus can cause warts on the penis, vulva, urethra, vagina, cervix and around the anus. It is a common condition, though most people have no symptoms. You can Treat Genital Warts naturally and effectively.
It is contagious, and if you have Genital warts, it is adviseable that you treat the condition or you risk spreading it to others. You also risk complications, including cervical cancer.
The Genital Warts Virus grows well in the moist genital area. On the outer genitals, it is easy to recognize them as they are raised and flesh coloured, and can occur singly or in clusters. If left untreated they may quickly grow to take on a cauliflower like appearance.
In women, Genital Warts can invade the vagina and cervix. These warts are flat and not easily visible. It is important that this condition be diagnosed (via reglar pap smears) and treated because Genital Warts of this kind can lead to cancerous and precancerous changes in the cervix.
If you have both Genital Warts and the Herpes virus together, you are at particular risk for developing cervical cancer.
I recommend a purely natural, Gentle Treatment for Genital Warts.

The Truth About Senior Moments
We all have our moments when the word stays paralyzed in our throat. We can see the face, hear the voice, but we struggle to name who it is we have in our mind. Most of us have dismissed such moments as senior moments. After all, we reason, they are part of aging. However, a new study that emerged from Chicago recently suggests otherwise. Senior moments might not be as innocuous as previously thought. The study suggests that in a disturbing number of cases, embarrassing senior moments such as forgetting a word, name or recent conversation are really hallmarks and signs of Alzheimer?s disease.
After performing autopsies on the brains of 134 older people who had appeared to be normal except for some moments of forgetfulness, Chicago scientists have found that one third of the participants had brains riddled with plagues, waxy protein clumps and scarred tissues that were all signs of Alzheimer?s disease.Their senior moments were pathological. Despite the fact that their brains showed marked deterioration similar to those who succumbed to Alzheimer?s, these participants had been able to lead functional normal lives; that is, they were able to take care of personal, household, social and daily living needs. Their ability to do so has prompted the inevitable question: why is that that some people are totally incapacitated and indisposed by brain deterioration while others (who had similar levels of deterioration in the brain) are able to function normally?
Dr. David Bennett, an Alzheimer?s researcher at Rush University Medical Center acknowledges that much can be gleaned from this discrepancy: ?There?s something about these people that allows them to have large amounts of pathology without obvious memory problems. We need to understand why that is so.? His research suggests that certain factors seem to prevent us from being incapacitated in our daily lives despite the build up of plaques and protein in our brains. These factors include a) high levels of education and b) feelings of social connec! tedness.
Mentally stimulating tasks such as learning a new skill or language, doing crossword puzzles, reading and writing all help to diminish incidents of senior moments and prevent Alzheimer?s by enabling the brain to compensate for the incapacitating elements of the disease. Just as moderate aerobic activity( like running or speed walking) can build arterial reserves that prevent heart attacks, so mind building activities can create a ?neural reserve? that enables people to tolerate Alzheimer?s-induced brain deterioration without succumbing to dementia.
The next question we need to ask then is, what activities can we cultivate to preserve our neural reserves?
1. In the famous Nun?s Study, researchers noted that the sisters who had a dense linguistic style in their early journal entries (which demonstrated an ability to manipulate complex ideas and images within a single sentence) were the most untouched by Alzheimer?s. Writing is an activity that demands correlation between the right and left hemispheres of the brain; translating emotions and ideas into words demands the bilateral engagement of both hemispheres, mind and senses. So by all means write?and write everyday. Make it as much a daily activity as exercise. Write from your mind; write from your heart and write from your gut. Don?t worry about what others think. Just write!
2. Learn a new skill or language. Assimilating something new, especially something that is unfamiliar terrain helps the brain to build new neural reserves. The language can be in the realm of music or computer ; as a matter of fact, so much has developed these days in the area of programming that the whole online arena of systems protocol and programs has literally opened up all kinds of possibility for growth.
3. Learn to play a new instrument? another example of assimilating new terrain. When we attended a recent violin concert where my grandson( age 4) performed the repertoire with the members of his Suzuki school, we were impressed by an elderly ge! ntleman who stood up with the children ( ranging in age from 3 to 17) and performed his solo piece. The applause was thunderous.Non- senior moments like this inspire us to step outside our comfort zone and work through whatever it takes to learn a new skill.
4. Travel widely and far. By the same token, traveling to different cultures can enhance the activity of brain functions. When my partner and I traveled to France and Italy last fall, we could feel the neurotransmitters firing in our brains?especially in Italy. We had to learn how to ask for food, time, directions to the subway station, to the washroom. The city became a physical puzzle we had to tame and nowhere was this more evident than in Venice, where safely ensconced in the ferry that carried us to the Piazza del San Marco, we struck up conversations with a gentleman from Latvia, a lady from Capri and a couple from Korea . We were worlds apart linguistically?but somehow we managed to understand each other quite well. This was a situation when eyes, hand and gestures spoke more than words!
5. Exercise daily. Not only does aerobic and cardiovascular activity strengthen our muscles, joints and bones, it improves the brain tissue density in older adults. During the normal human aging process, the average brain loses 15% of the cerebral cortex and 25% of white brain matter, a loss that is linked directly to reduced cognitive performance. Aerobic and cardiovascular exercises benefit the areas in the brain that are most susceptible to the ravages of aging.
6. Last but not least, bless all you encounter and love what you do; forget details that are not essential to your spiritual growth, such as your senior moments. Leaving your ego self has the same dynamics as learning a new language. Know that we are shadows and that our real home lies elsewhere; this knowledge will catapult us into learning the language of spirit.

7 Things You Need to Know Before Purchasing Diabetes Supplies
Have you been diagnosed with either type 1 or typ2 diabetes? If you have, you may be wondering where the best place is to purchase the diabetes supplies that you need. With today's technology, the avenues available to you are plentiful. However, you may still have questions as to which place is the best for your particular situation. These tips will help you answer those questions.
1- When you are beginning your search for a diabetic supply source, it is important to know what to look for. While you can purchase the needed supplies from your doctor, online or through a mail order company, some important questions need to be answered before you decide. You will need to know where they are located, what the hours of operation are, how qualified the staff is to answer questions and how they will ship the diabetes supplies to you.
2- First, do not deal with any diabetes supply company that is not based in the United States or in Canada. The reason for this is simple, if the supply company is not in North America, shipping tends to be less dependable and your supplies could be held in customs. Avoid supply sources that are located in South America, Asia or Mexico for these reasons.
3- While you are conducting your search, be sure go check that the companies you are considering have an actual address that isn't a P.O. Box. What you are looking for is that any diabetes supply company you are thinking of purchasing from is a real company, not someone who is, for instance, buying and reselling supplies.
4- Be sure to ask for a telephone number that you can use if something goes wrong with your order. The best option here is to use a company that has a 1-800 number that is answered 24 hours a day. It is also important to test that number before you decide to buy from that company. Don't just take their word that they have the number actually test it. Ask the person who answers the phone some basic questions about a specific diabetes supply; you want to know that they have knowledgeable p! eople an swering questions.
5- While you are checking for a knowledgeable staff, ask if they have a pharmacist on staff. If they don't, find out if they have a certified diabetes educator on staff that can answer your questions. This will help to ensure that you are dealing with a reputable firm and not a fly by night company.
6- You also want to know who fills out the insurance or Medicare paperwork. Most larger, well-run diabetes supply companies will offer this service for you as an added benefit. They will know what the insurance companies require to process a claim. If they offer this to you, use the service to your advantage. It is also a good idea to contact your insurance company to verify that they work with a particular diabetes supply source.
7- Shipping is very important when purchasing diabetes supplies. Find out how they ship the products, this information could ensure that you get supplies that are good and that have not gone bad in transit. Insulin, for example needs to be kept cold to stay useable, ask how they ensure this. Ask about shipping charges also, some companies will offer free shipping as an incentive to buy from them. However, if they don't, the shipping can get expensive.

Yoga Insights: Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations) Part 1
Surya Namaskar is now accepted as part of Hatha Yoga, but it was not always this way. Historically, traditional Hatha Yoga styles did not contain any of the Sun Salutation sequences, seen today, as an every day component of a daily Yoga practice.
The reason for the integration of Sun Salutations into the contemporary Hatha Yoga class is that the Sun Salutations have multiple mental, physical, and spiritual benefits. Hatha Yoga is an evolution in progress, and as such, embraced the many healthful benefits of what we know as the Sun Salutations.
Let?s cover the many benefits of the Sun Salutations and you can see why so many different sequences have evolved over time. Some of today?s popular Vinyasa Yoga, Power Yoga, and Ashtanga Yoga sequences are an expansion of Surya Namaskar. First of all, we will look at the physical benefits of Sun Salutations.
Physical Benefits of Surya Namaskar
Much like other forms of exercise, the blood is oxygenated by the practice of Sun Salutations. This one fact is great news for your heart and the cardio-vascular system. As a result, Sun Salutations can be practiced by anyone who is interested in maintaining his or her heart.
It is generally agreed that your heart is the most important muscle in your entire body, so this is, most likely, the most important physical benefit of all. This oxygenation of the blood also occurs when asanas are held for a longer period of time; much like you would see in an Iyengar or Restorative Yoga class.
Regular practice of Sun Salutations will improve and help regulate functions within the Endocrine Glands. Of course most of the studies about Yoga?s heath benefits have been performed in India, the birth place of Yoga. It seems that we must spend millions of dollars to research information that doctors in India have documented for generations.
The Endocrine system is very complex and is composed of glands that stimulate responses in one way, or another, through the use of chemicals, transport! ed throu gh the blood stream. These responses can be emotional or regulatory.
The Thyroid, Pituitary, Parathyroid, Adrenal, Testes, Ovaries, and Pancreatic Glands are components of the Endocrine System.
If you perform a chin lock during a standing forward bend, you will increase the blood flow to the Thyroid and Parathyroid. In turn, this would help regulate Thyroid and Parathyroid functions. This is just a small example of the many benefits you will discover from regular practice of Sun Salutations and Yoga.

You Know You Are A Candidate For LASIK Now What?
There are many resources available to explain the LASIK procedure; however, very few detail the testing necessary leading up to the procedure. These tests can be seemingly overwhelming and technical. Some of the testing could have been done at an initial consultation, though, some tests may need to be repeated. Each test has a specific purpose to assist the surgeon in obtaining the best results possible.
The first step is to determine the uncorrected visual acuity, which is vision without glasses or corrective lenses. This raises the question of ?What does 20/20 mean?? In the U.S. vision is recorded on a chart with standardized letters calibrated to be read at 20 feet away. The fraction that describes vision, for instance, 20/20, 20/40, compares the smallest letters that a person with perfect vision can see at 20 feet to your vision at 20 feet. If you are only capable of seeing larger letters on the chart that can be seen by a normal person standing back 40 feet from it, then your vision is 20/40. 20/400, means at twenty feet from the chart you can only distinguish the giant E on top, which could be seen by a normal person from 400 feet away.
Some visual acuity levels bear special legal significance. For example, you must be able to see the 20/40 line of letters, or smaller, in order to drive without glasses in the U.S. For this reason, statistics for laser vision correction are often quoted in relation to the percent of patients receiving 20/40 vision or better. If the best vision a person can see with corrective lenses is 20/200 in both eyes, that person is legally blind.
Next, best-corrected visual acuity must be determined. Refractive error or acuity is measured one eye at a time, covering the other eye with an occluder. Refractive error is the state of the eye for which a prescription is normally given for glasses or contacts. Generally two refractions are completed on a person considering LASIK surgery. The first refraction is called a manifest refraction. A determination of th! e refrac tive error is the ?dry? or undilated state. The second is a cycloplegic refraction. This is similar to a manifest refraction except it is completed while your eyes are dilated. The reason for the cycloplegic refraction is to insure that the manifest is correct. When your eyes are dilated, you are unable to accommodate (focus up close) during the test.
Once your visual acuity has been determined, the results will be compared to your previous prescription to assure stability in refractive error. There should not be more than a half a diopter change in the past two years.
The next eye examination is performed with an instrument known as a slit lamp microscope that allows a binocular, high magnification view of the eye. This examination is used to rule out the presence of disease.
Keratometry is used to measure corneal curvature and is completed with a keratometer. This measures the shape of your cornea. Many surgeons have sophisticated topography equipment that obtains these measurements.
An Opthalmoscope is used to examine the back of the eye or ?retina? to exclude any tears, detachment or predisposing conditions. The optic nerve that carries vision from the retina to the brain is also observed for signs of glaucoma.
Corneal Topography is used to demonstrate astigmatism and other abnormalities such as keratoconus. Topography is a map of the eye showing the hills and valleys in color. Today?s more progressive equipment also measures pachymetry and keratometry during the course of the test.
Pachymetry is a measurement of the thickness of the center of the cornea. An ultrasound probe touching the surface of the cornea after an eye drop is administered for anesthesia constitutes Pachymetry. The thickness of the cornea is essential to determine the amount of correction that can be obtained. When LASIK is performed the laser ablates or removes some of the corneal tissue. The more correction that is needed, the more tissue is removed. This test along with the refraction is used! to make sure there will be enough tissue to maintain a stable healthy cornea.
Determination of the dominant eye is obtained for those patients who are either having one eye completed at a time or they have chosen to have monovision. If a person is having one eye completed at a time, most surgeons begin with the dominant eye.
The final test is the measurement of pupil size. This is important for those people who have very large pupils in dim light. This information can assist the surgeon in determining the size of the ablation area to avoid an extreme amount of glare and starburst post surgically in night driving.
All of these tests are necessary to have the most accurate results possible with LASIK surgery; nevertheless, it is always best to consult with an ophthalmologist with regards to specific circumstances.

Sleep Apnea Ranges From Fatigue to Death!
Do you know someone that has been diagnosed with sleep apnea and you did not dare ask what it is exactly? Are you aware that a lot of people are unaware of being affected by this sleep disorder? Could you or someone close to you be suffering from this disorder? Let?s find out!
What is sleep apnea?
Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder that affects both the quality of sleep but also more importantly, the breathing process. While sleeping, the patient will stop breathing for periods of 10 seconds or longer which will wake him up as he is struggling to breathe. These absences of breathing are called ?apneas?. Usually the patient is unaware of these struggling episodes.
Is there more than one kind of sleep apnea?
Did you know that there are two types of sleep apnea? The first is called OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) which is caused by relaxed soft tissue blocking the passage of air during sleep.
The second type of sleep apnea is called CSA (central sleep apnea) which is caused by irregular signals from the brain that affect the breathing process. In some cases, patients suffer from a combination of both types of sleep apnea.
What are the symptoms of sleep apnea?
The symptoms of sleep apnea are: suffering from excessive sleepiness during the day, having headaches in the morning, feeling irritable, being affected by mood changes, suffering from anxiety, being affected by depression, becoming forgetful, snoring loud and gasp for air, having restless sleep, having trouble to concentrate and even falling asleep during the day. Please note that these symptoms vary from one person to the next. Also be aware that the severity of the symptoms and the combination of symptoms vary from one patient to the next.
A bit of history
Did you know that the first case of sleep apnea that was diagnosed happened only in 1965? This is a bit odd when you consider that so many people are affected by this sleep disorder. At first, only people suffering from certain health conditions s! uch as c ongestive heart failure were diagnosed with sleep apnea. It was also noticed that problems related to sleep apnea happened following surgery particularly in people that are overweight, obese or had short necks. It was later on proven that while they were noticed in these particular cases, sleep apnea does not only affect people suffering from these conditions or displaying these specific characteristics.
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)
This type of sleep apnea seems more common in people that have a soft palate or other abnormalities such the ones related to the jaw, people who are obese or consume alcohol. Did you know that 2% of female and 4% of males diagnosed with a mild case of sleep apnea stop breathing at least ten times per hour?
To evaluate the severity of sleep apnea in a patient, the specialist will evaluate it by using the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI). If a patient has less than 5 apneas per hour, it is considered normal. If it is between 5 and 15 it is mild, if it is between 15 and 30 it is moderate and over 30 is considered severe.
Also, the approximate time for each apnea (breathing interruption) is usually about 10 seconds but in more severe cases, it can reach 60 seconds.
In certain cases, sleep apnea can be cause by an external situation such as an accident, family problems, heart problems and narcolepsy. It was also held responsible either partially or totally for SIDS also known as sudden infant death syndrome.
How can it be diagnosed?
Sleep apnea is evaluated in a sleep laboratory. The patient spends the night in this laboratory and is closely monitored by both a technician with visual instruments as well as various medical resources that will also verify the level of oxygen in the blood, the breathing pattern as well as the activity of the brain.
What are the available treatments?
Well, according to the severity of the sleep apnea, a single type of treatment may help while some cases may require a combination of treatments. The avail! able tre atments are: medication, avoid antidepressants or relaxants, avoid alcohol, change of diet, quit smoking, surgery to enlarge the airways, devices to keep the patient from sleeping on his back, special pillows, oral devices and the continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) which is a machine that uses a tube connected to a mask and sends continuous pressurized air to keep the airways open.
Can sleep apnea be fatal?
Sleep apnea can lead to death as it takes a huge toll on the body and affects other systems which can lead to fatal situations such as a heart attack, congestive heart failure, a stroke or the patient may fall asleep while driving for example and have a tragic accident.
It is important to know that while people between 65 and 100 years of age or that are overweigh are more susceptible to suffer from sleep apnea but it still can affect people that are not overweight, infants and children as well. That is why if you have any doubts concerning a close relative, a friend or even yourself, see a doctor as treated sleep apnea cannot only improve your quality of life but also give you the opportunity to live a long and happy life.
My husband has been diagnosed with sleep apnea a few years ago. He has followed certain treatments, such as surgery and CPAP and we believe that it has improved his quality of sleep which also allow him to lead a better life. Laser Hair Removal Treatments Facts To Consider Regarding Safety
When some people think of laser hair removal they can have many ideas that are not based on facts. These ideas are in many cases formed by myths. It can be a good idea to research the facts in regards to the safety of this type of process. You can them make a well informed decision based on facts.
Safe and effective laser hair removal treatments have now become very popular with the technology available today. They have become permanent solutions as they burn the follicles themselves. Follicles are the roots of hair and getting rid of these follicles would mean that hair can not grow back.
Laser hair treatments have many great benefits and people are still quite resistant in many cases because of not knowing the facts involved. People have fear of some stories they hear in regards to the harmful side effects of the process involved with the treatments. The stories are not based on facts, only fiction.
Here are some of the facts you may want to consider. The so called harmful side effects are nothing more than the old myths and not based on real facts. You can ask anyone about the worst case situation that can come from laser hair removal treatments and that person won't be able to give you a straight answer.
Here are some facts to consider about laser hair removal treatment. You may experience skin irritation in some patients at about 22%. Patients with very sensitive skin may have swelling in some cases but this too subsides within a few hours and in most cases within an hour.
Laser hair treatments are done by professionals and most of them are fully licensed. You can easily see if your state requires them to have a license. With highly skilled professionals, accidents are very rare.
With rumors that have turned into myths, it would be sad that people would have fear with these types of safe treatments.
Laser hair removal treatments have become one of the most effective and the most permanent solutions to excessive hair growth for many people.
Laser hai! r remova l is mostly recommended for people with fair complexion and dark hair color. This is to minimize the possibility of burning. The laser is better absorbed by darker colors. If the patient has a lighter colored skin, the laser would be able to focus on the hair follicles. This shouldn't be taken to mean that dark-complexioned individuals cannot avail of laser hair treatment.
It's a good idea to note that burning is also prevalent when the patient has a fresh tan. It is strongly advised that the treatment be avoided when you have just come back from a trip to the beach or tanning booth.
Another common inconvenience brought about by laser hair removal is slight swelling in local areas. Patients with sensitive skin are more susceptible to this side effect. There is nothing to worry about, however, as the skin in such a case is just adjusting to the rigors of the concluded treatment.
Laser hair removal is not recommended for pregnant women. There is no scientific study that connects the treatment to birth complications, but as with everything else when it comes to pregnancy, the maxim better be safe than sorry is best practiced, for nine months at least.
With some time spent on research you will know you are making a well informed decision. There are several websites that you can use to do your research and gather valuable information to make the process easier. The process of laser hair removal treatment is very safe.

The Ultimate Muscle Meal Plan
With this article, I just wanted to share with you one of my special muscle meal plans that I love. Surprisingly, it actually comes in the form of a salad, but it is killer!
I know the ladies will love this idea, but for all of you guys out there that think eating a salad makes you less of a man... Well, you haven't tried my ultimate salad on roids yet!
Keep in mind that this salad is not low in calories. It's not low in fat. It's not low in carbs.
And guess what...that's the whole point! It's not low in anything, but it sure as hell is HIGH in everything under the sun that's good for your body... just about every vitamin, mineral, antioxidant, and phytonutrient on the planet! And that means your body will receive all the nutrition it needs to maintain optimal hormonal balance, function at it's highest capacity, keep your appetite satisfied for hours, and prevent any unwanted cravings.
Keep in mind that last point... when you fill your body with all of the nutrients it needs on a daily basis, you pretty much totally eliminate cravings! This happens because your body is satisfied and doesn't need to crave any more food, because it has all of the nutrients it needs.
I've experienced this myself. Years ago, I used to crave sweets ALL THE TIME. But now that I eat the balanced diet that I do these days, I can't say that I've had a craving in at least 5 years! No joke.
Alright, here's the special muscle meal plan recipe:
The Ultimate Muscle Salad
approx 1-2 cups spinach leaves
approx 1-2 cups mixed leaf lettuce
shredded carrots
1/2 of a ripe avocado, diced
2 hard boiled eggs, diced (preferrably organic, cage free)
3 Tbsp chopped pecans
1/4 cup dried cranberries
top with homemade dressing made of balsamic vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, and Udo's Choice Oil Blend (3/4 of total liquid should come from the vinegar)
Mix it all together and you've got one delicious and ridiculously nutritious salad. For an extra shot of ant! ioxidant s, wash it all down with some homemade iced green/white/oolong tea lightly sweetened with the natural sweetener Stevia or a little touch of raw honey.
Alright, now let's look at the approx macronutrient breakdown:
Prot: 23 g., Carbs: 48 g., Fiber: 12 g., Fat: 45 g., Calories: 650
Now before you throw your arms up in disgust and call me crazy for recommending such a high fat, high calorie meal, keep in mind to scale back the portion sizes for your own caloric goal. The portions above are simply the portions that I use considering that my maintenance caloric intake is around 3000 calories/day. If your maintenance is 2000 calories/day, then scale back the portions accordingly.
Also, I don't care about the high fat content of this meal... because every last gram of the fat in this meal is VERY healthy... from the pecans, the olive oil, the Udo's oil, the fresh avocado... and yes, even the fat from the eggs is good for you!
How about the carbs? Well, out of a total of 48 grams, you've got 12 grams of fiber. That's a pretty good ratio. Also, the healthy fats and protein in this meal will slow down the carbohydrate digestion, giving you a healthy glycemic response and steady controlled blood sugar.
Alright, so you're probably also wondering why there isn't a larger amount of protein. After all, protein is all the rage with bodybuilders, right. Well, actually 23 grams isn't too shabby, especially considering 14 grams of that comes from the highly bioavailable protein from the hard boiled eggs. Also consider that this meal has a whole lot of healthy fats, which increases the utilization of your protein. This happens because your body does not need to use your protein for energy, and can instead use it for muscle building or maintenance, and all of the other various functions that amino acids are needed for in the body.
Overall, with this meal plan, you've got a great mix of healthy fats, good fibrous carbs, quality protein, and a huge diversity of vitamins, minerals, anti! oxidants , and other trace nutrients.

It's All About the Calories and Exercising
Like most people when I was younger it seemed I could eat anything and not really ever gain weight. Well now that I?m in my forties it appears that those undisciplined days are over for good. After doing a little research I?ve come to the conclusion that my lack of activity and slowing metabolism is to blame.
Wanting to lose some weight I went out to look for that magic weight loss plan that would offer a painless process for losing weight. After reading and trying several programs I realized that they all seemed to have the same common theme ? lower your caloric intake and get off your butt and do something
If you need to lose some weight, I recommend that you pay close attention to what you eat during the day. Go ahead and count up all of those calories you take in and calculate how many minutes you exercise. It won?t take very many days for you to figure out that you take in to many calories and don?t exercise enough. Use the information below to help you figure out where you want or need to be.
Calorie Requirements:
Resting - Metabolic Rate represents the minimum energy needs of the body, for day and night with no exercise.
Sedentary - Includes occupations that involve sitting most of the day.
Light - Includes activities, which involve standing most of the day.
Moderate - May include walking, gardening, and housework.
Active - Includes an occupation that requires manual labor and/or participating in a daily exercise program.
Daily calorie allowance:
Men
Resting 12 per lb. body weight
Sedentary16 per lb. body weight
Light18 per lb. body weight
Moderate21 per lb. body weight
Active26 per lb. body weight
Example: I want to reach a weight of 180 lbs, to do so I plan on being moderately active, so my daily caloric intake should be 21 x 180 = 3780 calories per day.
Women
Resting 13 per lb. body weight
Sedentary14 per lb. body weight
Light 16 per lb. body weight
Mo! derate18 per lb. body weight
Active22 per lb. body weight
Example: If you want to reach a weight of 130 and maintain that weight and plan on being moderately active, then your caloric intake should be 18 x 130 = 2340 calories per day.
Lastly, no matter what you decide to do go ahead and engage in regular physical activity and reduce sedentary activities to promote health. Good luck!

Acne Medication: What's the Scoop?
Acne can be a frustrating problem for a lot of people. It has been estimated that 17 million people in the United States suffer from some form of acne. No wonder there are so many products that have been specifically made to treat acne. But what exactly is acne?
Basically, acne is a skin disease characterized by the inflammation of the skin. Clogged pores and dead skin cells that accumulate on the skin are the primary reasons people get acne.
Most people commonly referred to acne as zits, and pimples. In some severe cases, acne can appear as pus filled sores, boils, lesions. Acne does not only appear on the face. It can also appear on the shoulder, back, arms, and chest.
How acne affect individuals
Another problem that results due to acne is that it tends to scar. A lot of people who suffer from acne also suffers from low self esteem, and depression because of this condition. This is especially detrimental to teenagers, who are extremely vulnerable and insecure about their appearance. They also fear the derision from their peers as a result of having acne. It has been assessed that 85 percent of teenagers suffer from acne.
Acne does not only affect one's physical appearance, but also a person's psychological, and emotional well being. This is why those who are suffering from acne are constantly looking for effective ways to treat this condition.
Acne Medication
There are a lot of acne medication that's available out there for people to choice from. A word of caution, over the counter acne medications should be viewed with suspicion. Some acne medication if not suited for individuals may leave scarring!
There is no one medication that can treat acne, since there are many forms of acne. Also people have different types of skin type that react differently to medication.
For those who have acne, it is best to get a check up from a dermatologist or a medical professional. This way, they would be directed to the right medication that works for them.
Home made remedies-
A lot of people automatically assume that homemade remedies are ineffective! But there have been some findings that state that some homemade remedies do in fact work wonders! Some oils, plants, and herbs are great for treating mild cases of acne.
Prescribed medication-
For those who have acne this would probably be the best way to go. Since every individual's need is different. A dermatologist would be able to evaluate what type of medication will work for different types of acne.
Oral antibiotic-
This can also be used to treat acne. The problem with this method of treatment is that although it may help in killing bacteria, it does nothing to get rid of the excessive oil that the skin secretes.
Other forms of treatment people use are different types of acne are as follow:
-Azelaic acid, benzoyl perroxide, retinoids, salicydic acid - This is suitable for
treating comedonal acne.
-Antibiotics and benzoyl perroxide work best for inflamed acne.
- For severe acne that's inflammatory contraceptive pills, or isotretinoin work best.
Most people will suffer from acne, at some stage in their lives. Good thing is that there are a lot of available medication that will help to treat acne.
The secret to effectively treating acne, is to find the right medication that will work for you. The best way to achieve this is to consult your dermatologist. A dermatologist would be able to offer advice, and give a professional opinion on which product will work best for you.

Hemorrhoids Laser Treatment
Sufferers from hemorrhoids may be able to treat their condition successfully with the use of natural remedies or medication, but sometimes a surgical procedure is recommended. Lasers are the up to the minute, state of the art gizmos used in modern operating theatres these days, and hemorrhoids laser treatment is just one of the benefits.
The advantage of using a laser beam with hemorrhoids laser treatment, in the hands of an accomplished surgeon, is its absolute precision. The hemorrhoid is, in a sense, vaporized. The beam used is small and a quick healing process usually follows. For those people really suffering, or those who get regular attacks, hemorrhoids laser treatment can be the answer. It is a fast way of dealing with the problem, is non-intrusive and doesn't require any medication. The laser works by sealing off the small blood vessels and nerves, with its invisible light. Because the nerve endings are closed, this means that patients have little discomfort after the procedure. The other advantage of this hemorrhoids laser treatment is that the blood vessels being sealed, means that the surgeon can operate in a safe environment without the presence of blood.
In a recent study on hemorrhoids laser treatment, the statistics on 750 patients were analyzed, and it was found there was a 98% success rate. The patients were asked on their feelings about the surgery and 99% reported they were satisfied. These figures would suggest that hemorrhoids laser treatment has an assured future and could bring great joy to a lot of long suffering people.

Nutritional Ways to Beat Cystitis
Cystitis is an infection or inflammation of the bladder; it tends to be more common in women than men. A half of women will suffer from cystitis at sometime during their life. Women tend to be more affected by cystitis because the urethra in women is much shorter than in men this makes it easy for infection to pass along the urinary tract. Infections are usually triggered by bacteria.
Symptoms of cystitis are an urgency to urinated, a stinging, discomfort or burning whilst urinating, urinating small amounts frequently, persistent urge to urinate, backache or abdominal cramping, passing of cloudy, blood-stained or bad smelling urine and serious infections can cause chills, fever, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.
Dietary changes can help with cystitis, avoid sugar and sugary foods, cut down on alcohol consumption, reduce dietary fats and drink plenty of water and cranberry juice. Reoccurring and chronic cases of cystitis have been linked to food allergies; if you suffer regularly from cystitis then it may be wise to visit your doctor or nutritional therapist to see if a food allergy is causing the cystitis. It is also wise to see your doctor if symptoms are recurring, if you are pregnant, fever or shakes occur and if your urine is blood stained or cloudy. Some women have found that acupuncture has been beneficial in easing the symptoms of cystitis.
The following supplements may help if you are suffering from cystitis.
Cranberry juice
Extract of bearberry
Extract of dandelion
Extract of peppermint
Grapefruit seed extract
Multivitamins and minerals
Olive oil extracts
Vitamin A

Pubic Hair Cuts: Female Pubic Hair Shaving
Pubic hair shaving is becoming more and more popular amongst women. Perhaps it's a sign of the times. Or it could be a coming of age of independence and personal choice for woman. Whatever the reason is for shaving one's pubic hairs which are countless, the methods in which to shape and cut one's pubic hair remain relatively limited to a few popular methods.
Shaving one's pubic hair should be no different from any other hair removal practice. It all requires a bit of knowledge, lots of common sense, some time, and the right tools.
First trim the hair to about a quarter of an inch or less before using an electric shaver (if you want to remove all your hair). If you want to leave a landing strip on your pubic area, consider having a professional hair removal specialist wax the region for you.
For more long term solutions and permanent methods, consider laser hair removal or electrolysis. Keep in mind that in some people's cases even using a so-called permanent hair removal solution may result hair growing back later on- even if it's thinner and lighter, etc.
Some women may even opt for depilatory creams though it's important to be careful as it is a chemical based solution. Generally this method is used for more innocuous parts of the body such as the legs and/or arms.

The Prostate What You Don't Know Could Kill You
Women know more about men's health than men do themselves and that's a fact. Why is that? Is it because we find it hard to discuss these things? Is it because it's not macho! From the time that we are young, we are taught that boys have to act tough and shouldn't cry. You must have heard the saying Big Boys don't cry!
Most of us carry this thought process into adulthood and feel by showing concern for our health, it will be seen as a male weakness. I am guilty of that myself.
I know when my prostate troubles began, I knew absolutely nothing about the prostate. I was one of the 96%. Mainly because it didn't cross my mind that I'd ever have any problems.
In addition, the prostate is in a private area, and it wasn't something I wanted to examine. Many people, including myself, feel uncomfortable talking about the prostate, since the gland plays a role in both sex and urination.
I have had prostate troubles, survived a cancer scare and watched my sister die from Cancer. Believe me, when I say that when you think you are going to die, it concentrates your mind on what is really important. Suddenly your priorities get focused.
Due to my prostate troubles, I became interested in learning about the prostate and how it affected my health.
I cried the day they took a biopsy and I cried with relief the day I was told it was benign. I cried many times as I watched my sister die.
I got so frustrated having to get up every night 3-4 times due to my prostate troubles and then finding I couldn't get back to sleep.
What is prostate cancer?
Prostate Cancer develops by the growth of cancerous cells within the prostate gland. Prostate cancer occurs when some of the cells that make up the prostate gland escape from the normal controls on their growth and start to divide, grow and spread in an uncontrolled manner. In its advanced form, it can produce the same symptoms as BPH. (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia)
Warning Signs
Early prostate cancer often does not c! ause sym ptoms. When symptoms of prostate cancer do occur, they may include some of the following problems:
A need to urinate frequently, especially at night; Difficulty starting urination or holding back urine; Inability to urinate; Weak or interrupted flow of urine; Painful or burning urination; Painful ejaculation; Blood in urine or semen; and/or Frequent pain or stiffness in the lower back, hips, or upper thighs.
Any of these symptoms may be caused by cancer or by other, less serious health problems, such as BPH or an infection (Prostatitis). Only a doctor can tell the cause. A man who has symptoms like these should see his family doctor . Do not wait to feel pain; early prostate cancer does not cause pain.
These are two other main prostate problems
1) BPH - (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia) is the abnormal growth of benign prostate cells. In an enlarged prostate , the prostate grows larger and pushes against the urethra and bladder, blocking the normal flow of urine. BPH is often the result of prostatitis.
2) Prostatitis refers to prostate inflammation and infection, which can be brief or long-lasting, mild or severe symptoms can include frequent, urgent and painful urination, erectile problems or pain >during ejaculation.
Prostatitis is rampant in the US, affecting at least 80% of American men. Most is without major symptoms. Prostate enlargement, called Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (BPH) is often the result of prostatitis.
Treatment for Prostate Cancer
The treatment given for prostate cancer depends on how advanced or widespread the disease is. If the cancer is small and only present within the prostate gland, it is possible to treat it with
surgery (radical prostatectomy) radiotherapy (either external beam radiotherapy or brachytherapy) hormone therapy

The Best Prescription Acne Medication
There are many different varieties of medications that are specifically designed for the successful treatment of acne, but since every person has a different skin composition and conditions can vary it is difficult to say which is the best overall prescription acne medication. Many of the popular medications contain peroxide as a means of treating acne, zits, pimples, blackheads and any other skin blemish that comes to mind and those medications are very successful for a lot of people in treating their acne. However, for some consumers those products and acne solutions just don't work or if their acne is too severe it may require a more drastic solution. It is usually best to see a dermatologist if your medication is not working, as they will have more experience than your family doctor and are more likely to have a wider knowledge of the treatments available for your particular acne strain or skin blemish.
One of the more popular prescription treatments is for a topical medication that contains retinoids. These acne medications can help to alleviate some of the problems of acne by keeping your pores clear and helping to prevent blackheads. Unfortunately, there is also a downside to topical medications as the skin may be more sensitive to the sun. This can be disadvantage if you live somewhere where the sun is out a lot or if you are going on holiday in a sunny area. Of course, it may well be worth putting up with these minor side effects if the treatment is proving to be effective at reducing or completely eliminating your acne. Whether or not this is the best prescription acne medication for you is something that you could ask the dermatologist. If your condition is particularly bad they might prescribe oral retinoids although they are not usually prescribed in mild cases of acne.
Antibiotics are thought by some people to be the best prescription medication for acne but again, this depends upon your condition and how effective your doctor thinks that they might be for you. It is ! not some thing that you should try without first consulting your doctor and getting an appropriate prescribed treatment.
It is very difficult to tell which is the best prescription medication for acne as the condition and the best way to treat it can vary widely from person-to-person. It is not a good idea to try prescription medications without the full consultation of your doctor or dermatologist. If you want to try over-the-counter treatments then it is a good idea to ask the pharmacist what treatments they would recommend and what they think may be best for your skin condition. This way you'll know that you're getting the best treatment and the right one for you.

More Ways to Deal With Acne
The ?cures? for acne vary dependant on the type and severity of acne. The truth is, there is currently no cure for acne, only treatments. Some people have success treating their acne with over the counter topical medications, and others require a combination of prescription oral and topical treatments. These medications treat the symptoms of acne (the inflammation) and help to prevent future breakouts but do not address the cause of acne.
There are several commonly known contributors to acne outbreaks and most of these conditions can be controlled.
Stress ? When we are under stress, one of the ways our body responds is by releasing hormones such as cortisol and androgen, causing a hormonal imbalance. Additionally, the sebaceous gland releases fatty secretions that can contribute to pore clogging. While stress in our daily lives is unavoidable, stress management techniques to help elevate tension levels and disperse cortisol levels are helpful to the prevention of acne.
Diet ? The myth about greasy foods contributing to acne breakouts is just that, a myth. However, a poor diet that robs our bodies of essential vitamins and minerals can contribute to acne breakouts. Vitamins and minerals such as vitamin A, vitamin E, Zinc, Selenium, and Magnesium are important to healthy skin cells, hormonal balance, and maintaining a strong immune system. Taking a multivitamin that contains 100% of the recommended allotment of these vitamins and minerals is helpful to the prevention of acne.
Caffeine ? Coffee, tea, and soft drinks that contain caffeine can contribute to acne breakouts. Caffeine has been shown to contribute to the production of cortisol.
Skin Condition ? People who have unbalanced skin, meaning it is either too dry or too oily are more likely to have acne breakouts. Some people have what is known as combination skin, where some areas are dry, and others are oily. Using a face cleansing regiment that works to establish balanced skin helps to keep acne outbreaks unde! r contro l.
Genetics ? Genetics quite probably play the biggest role of all in determining who develops acne, how much, and over what period of time in life. Unfortunately, we are just barely beginning to scratch the surface in genetic research, and any solutions or treatments for acne that are developed on a genetic level are probably many years away
It is also wise to note that hygiene does NOT play a big role (if any role at all) in contributing to acne breakouts. Of course, it is a good idea to wash one?s face daily, using an oil-free face wash or moisturizing bar. However, no direct link has been found between acne and poor hygiene. So forget the stereotypes. Face and body washing (or lack there of), contribute very little, if anything at all to acne.
However, in spite of what we don?t know about acne, there are many acne treatments that for most people, can work as an acne ?cure?. These range from prescription medications like Retin-A and Accutane, to herbal and holistic treatments like green tea cream or tea tree oil.
Remember, always consult a dermatologist before using anything to treat acne, or any other condition. This will not only keep one safe, but a dermatologist can help advise on the best treatment to take the acne away faster, and more effectively!

Start Smoking Now!
Remember the Marlboro guy? You don?t see those sorts of ads promoting tobacco products on TV anymore. Back in the day, it used to be cool to smoke. Today we know, more than ever, the many health problems that are associated with smoking a tobacco product. It is finally being seen as a bad habit, perhaps a socially unacceptable one by a few. But, why do so many people start smoking then? Each year millions of people will light their first cigarette. Will it be you this year?
Why We Smoke
Fitting in- In many schools, smoking is a large problem. Yes, it is still peer pressure that forces many teens to light up. Whether caused by the bully or the ?come on, are you cool or not?? routine, smoking still happens quite a bit in those younger years. The best way to prevent your child from smoking is to talk to them about what it is, what it does to them, and the need to avoid it in the first place.
The partner does it- This is another large reason why people begin smoking in their young adult years. As they begin to date and hang around a group of people, they may just learn to smoke. Even if the non-smoking partner is never asked to take a smoke, it often happens that he/she gives it a try. At other times, people start it because it?s easier to make conversation at bars or clubs.
Stress relief- Many people know that those who are smoking are relieving stress through it. So, if your life gets overloaded with anxiety and worry, maybe smoking a pack will help you to deal with it. Atleast that?s how many individuals start smoking. Like other addictions, these feelings simply serve as a short-term escape from reality.
All of these reasons to start smoking do not have any real merit. After all, who really believes that it is cool to have tobacco yellow teeth? Nevertheless, thousands of people make the decision to start, pressured or not each day. Will you be one of them? You may want to realize, too, that if you never do start to smoke, you?ll never have to fight the battle of quitting,! a task that is harder than most problems of our daily life.

Depression and How It Affects Our Lives
Depression affects us all during our life time. Some are held in it's grasp to a greater degree than others. Depression can affect our sleep habits, our outlook on life and even our life. It can change the way that we think and act. It can keep us locked within dark places for long periods of time. Our functioning as human beings can be affected and curtailed by this disease. Genetics plays a role in this malady. Suicide rates are higher in some familles than others. People who suffer from this malady feel as though they are in a big and dark hole . Extricating themselves from the hole that they have dug for themselves is one big problem. Psychiatric help with the use of drug treatment is one viable alternative.
The society that we live in and the problems associated with it greatly contribute to depression. When a spouse leaves or when any other traumatic event occurs can contribute to depression. Most of us do not have the family structure available to handle these situations. We feel as if we are alone and isolated on an island. Many times the affected person can have an established family structure and still be affected by this disease. Whether it be the death of a loved one or the loss of a job, the end results can often times be the same.
Many people that enter depression do not have a viable reason for entering that dark and deep hole. Two people that are affected by the exact same dilemmas can react totally different to the same problem. Some people are not effected by problems that send many others into a life threatening situation. Many people have built in coping mechanisms that derail the onset of depression. Good ways for people to off set the affects of depression is to do something that they enjoy. A vacation or get away may be good for one person but may not be good for another. Being among people may enhance recovery for some people and send others plummeting into despair. Family members and friends should treat this as a disea! se and r ecognize the fact that one usually has no control over the matter without professional help.
Depression can lead to death. A deeply depressed person can not rationalize how to escape his dilemma. Just the act of thinking about his problem is apt to drive him deeper into that depressive state. Rely on professional help and the good sense of family members and friends who can recognize problems in a person that the afflicted may not even recognize himself. Depression is one of the leading ills that affects modern day man. Many situations may contribute to it. Sometimes it requires no trigger mechanism to initiate the feelings of hopelessness and the feeling that life is not worth living. Those who think this way often rationalize that the best solution to the problems of life is to disconnect themselves from the problem of life. The pain that they have been suffering from would finally end. There is real pain in depression. The thoughts of doom and negativity are sometimes so great that the only solution for a person in a deeply depressed state is to terminate life.
Even though all of us suffer from stress related problems there are answers for many who suffer from extreme depression. There are hot lines set up for many sufferers in crisis type situations. Help is just a phone call away. There is also help for sufferers in the medical community. Maybe a conversation with a representative of a favorite religious community can help turn the torment. Our society recognizes that it has created many of the problems that effect sufferers. There is help out there for those who suffer.

Acne: Causes and Cures
What is acne? While acne is generally considered to be a problem suffered by teenagers, it can occur and affect people of any age. Acne does however begin at puberty in most cases. Approximately 75% of teenagers will have acne to some degree.
Hormonal changes stimulate the oil producing skin glands causing them to become plugged by excessive skin and oil cells trying to exit. These glands are situated within the pores of the skin around hair follicles. Once these glands become plugged, the hair follicle will bulge and form whiteheads. The top of this plug may darken and form a blackhead.
Pimples are the next step. These are formed when the follicle wall ruptures and allows bacteria on the skin's surface to enter into the skin causing the area to become infected. Sometimes a more painful cyst will form but only if the infection is deep within the skin. This condition is the most painful of the types mentioned in this article.
While acne is normally found on the face, it can also appear on the neck, shoulders, chest and back and less commonly on the arms and legs.
Acne can be aggravated by - excessive dirt and oil on the surface of the skin - hormonal changes caused by menstruation or pregnancy - stress - certain drugs such as testosterone or cortisone
Acne tends to be more prominent in some families than others, it is hereditary. It is not a contagious condition and can be treated.
How can acne be treated? A variety of treatments are available but the most common are the following. They are designed to cure existing acne and to prevent further acne from appearing.
Most medications applied to the infected area are designed to dry it out and will cause some peeling of the skin. Some of the most commonly used chemicals in these medications are sulfur, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, retinoids or resorcinol.
Antibiotics taken orally, such as tetracycline, are often prescribed. While effective they can discolor teeth permanently. For this re! ason the y are not normally prescribed for children. Some antibiotic medications are topical, meaning that they can be applied directly to the skin.
What other methods are there to reduce acne? Exposing the skin to the sun can improve the condition, keeping in mind of course that too much exposure to the sun can cause sunburn and increases the risk of skin cancer.
Washing the skin regularly with warm water to reduce dirt, oil and to remove make-up will help. Taking a shower immediately after exercising is recommended. Shampoo hair regularly, preferably with an anti dandruff shampoo.
For those with long hair it pays to keep it away from the face, so comb or tie it back.
Often the most difficult thing to do is not to touch the infected areas but this is most important. Touching, rubbing or picking at the pimples will only worsen the situation as you are only exposing the area to more skin damage. A common mistake is to rest your head on your hands, causing more aggravation of the skin.
Lastly, everyone is different and each person may have their own foods or creams that may result in acne. Look out for things that trigger the worsening of your acne and then avoid them.
You can't prevent acne but you can manage and improve the condition with medication and gentle care and regular cleansing of the skin.

Keeping Yourself Fit After 40
Have you ever noticed how people who do no exercise at all still have a look of fullness in their arms, legs and chests for example, when they are less than 30 years old? Have you also noticed that this look of fullness starts to slowly become a look of droopiness and sagginess when they are over 30? Our body is at its peak at between 25 and 30 years of age. After this point, our body starts to slowly go into a decline and we tend to put on weight a little faster than before.
Part of the reason for this is, after 30, we begin to lose muscle to what is known as atrophy (muscle shrinkage due to disuse). We also begin to lose bone density leading very slowly to eventual osteoporosis. Muscle is active tissue and therefore burns calories. When we start to lose muscle to atrophy, our metabolism begins to slow down as a result leading to more fat storage and weight gain, and over 50% of this is due to inactivity. Is there anything you can do to help reverse this process? The answer is yes you can.
We?ve all seen it, there are two women standing together, one is around 35 years old while the other is around 50, yet the older women looks more firm and vigorous than the younger women. You might ask yourself; how does she do it? The answer is she exercises. Period! You, at almost any age can stay in great shape as well, but you have to exercise. You have to make exercise a regular part of your day.
A good exercise program would be one that contains both aerobic and resistance exercise with some stretching added also. Many prefer to do aerobics and resistance exercises separately, but a lot of people find that the best workout for them is circuit training since it utilizes all three of these types of exercise in one, and is very effective and time saving.
A lot of people seem to think that aerobic exercise is the best way to lose and maintain weight, but, since 75% of the calories you burn are at rest, this is not the case. Aerobic exercise only burns calories during the activity, and then! within two hours after you are finished, you burn no more calories than before.
Resistance exercise on the other hand builds and maintains muscle, and since muscle is active tissue, you burn more calories than before, even at rest. One pound of fat burns around 4 calories per day while one pound of muscle burns around 50 calories per day. After 30 years of age, an inactive person will lose ? to 1 pound of muscle every year. That means that ten years of muscle loss due to inactivity equates to a metabolism slow down of around 450 calories per day!
If you want to lose fat and gain muscle tone, then you must include exercise into your day and that means including resistance training into your exercise routine. Men and women who include resistance training to their exercise routines lose around 44% more fat than those who don?t. Adding resistance training to a regular exercise routine will also slow down many of the effects of aging. People even in their 80s and 90s have seen as much as a 200% improvement in their strength levels within 3-4 weeks of starting to exercise.
You can stay fit and trim after 40, but the message is clear, exercise with resistance included is an absolute must if you want to stay in peak condition and feel young and alive, and you can do it, even well past 40.

Mesothelioma Treatments: What Are my Options?
Clinical research to treat malignant mesothelioma is very active and although no treatment has yet proved entirely successful, there exist a range of treatments available to individuals diagnosed with the disease. There are three types of standard treatments used to treat malignant mesothelioma which include: surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.
Surgery
Surgery for malignant mesothelioma is divided into a number of sub-classes, which are specially designed to limit the disease for individuals with particular strains of the disease.
Extrapleural pneumonectomy is a severe form of surgery in which the entire lung and a portion of the lining of the chest, the diaphragm, and some or the entire sac which surrounds the heart is removed.
Wide local excision is a form of surgery which targets and removes the cancer and a limited amount of the healthy tissue surrounding the cancerous region.
Pleurectomy and decortication removes part of the covering of the lungs, as well as the lining of the chest and portions of the outside covering of the lungs.
The surgical procedure pleurodesis is a distinct technique insofar as it employs a blend of chemicals and/or drugs to create an intentional scar between the layers of the pleura. Post surgery, the space created by the scar must be drained, using either a catheter or chest tube, and is then filled with a chemical which inhibits the accumulation of fluid in the pleura cavity.
Radiation
The second primary medical technique used to fight the development of malignant mesothelioma is radiation. Radiation therapy, as applied to malignant mesothelioma uses the same basic technology as other forms of medical radiation insofar as the technique employs high energy x-rays to kill cancer cells. The process is divided into two broad categories:
External radiation therapy is a technique in which a machine sends radiation in a targeted stream at a certain portion of the body, and in so doing it kills the cancerous cel! ls in it s purview.
Internal radiation therapy, by contrast, uses not an external machine, but rather needles, seeds and catheters to place radioactive substance directly on or near the cancer. While the precise method of implementation will of course depend upon the type and stage of the illness, what is constant within this category is that the goal is to get the radiation placed directly onto the cancerous area and in so doing provide a more concentrated and directed dosage.
Chemotherapy
The third standard malignant mesothelioma treatment is Chemotherapy. Chemotherapy uses drugs which target cancer cells and stop them from dividing and thus prevent their growth. In systemic chemotherapy, the drug can be taken by mouth or injected, but either way the goal is to have it reach cancer cells by means of the body?s own blood circulation system. In regional chemotherapy, the drug is placed directly onto the target area. And finally, combination chemotherapy involves the use of two or more anticancer drugs which can be administered either orally or through injection.
Malignant mesothelioma is a difficult disease for anyone to bear, however, educating oneself as to the options available is an important step for making the process more manageable.

Stop Acne Scarring
People who suffer from chronic acne also have to deal with the after effects ? acne scars. If you?ve had acne for awhile then you know that where there?s a zit, there?s most likely a scar. However, there are measures you can take to prevent acne scarring.
When you?re treating acne, not only should you tackle the business of controlling breakouts, but preventing future scarring as well. The best way to prevent scarring is not to tamper with your face. Do not touch or pop pimples, no matter how tempting this might be. Many people think that messing with the zit will make it clear up faster, and this simply does not solve your problems. It only creates future scarring.
The next thing to do is to get an acne treatment clearing routine. This often involves acne treatment products for both day and night that usually come in the form of face washes, skin exfoliates, cleansers, facial scrubs, and day or night creams. Use acne treatment products as prescribed, and consider buying a series of acne products or line of products that each produces a different desirable effect.
To increase your chances of controlling acne, make your treatment routine easy to maintain. There?s really no way out of it, you either have to make time to complete the steps of your acne regimen or learn to live with bad skin. It might require you to wake up half an hour earlier to invest the extra time you need. If you consider the benefits in the long run, you will agree that is worth it.
In addition to this regimen, you should consider alternatives to your current behavior to reinforce good skin treatment. For instance, if you feel the urge to pop a pimple, go wash your face instead. It all pays off in the long run. This will help reduce the amount of scarring you will have after your skin finally clears up. But if you don't make the commitment to your daily regimen, as well as complementary behavior modifications, you may never experience a clearer complexion.
